The Gandhian Young Technological Innovation award has been awarded by the Union Minister of Science & Technology in two categories: SRISTI-GYTI & SITARE-GYTI awards.



A total of 21 innovations from eminent scientific establishments across the nation have received the award and some other innovations were also awarded appreciation citation. Most of the recipients are from IITs, IISc, NIPER, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Researches and from other institutions.



The GYTI award constitutes of two categories - 1) SRISTI-GYTI (Sustainable Technological Innovations-Gandhian Young Technological) award is awarded by SRISTI, and 2) SITARE-GYTI (Students Innovation for Advancement of Research Explorations-Gandhian Young Technological Innovation) under BIRAC (Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council), DBT (Department of Biotechnology).



These SITARE-GYTI award is awarded annually to the most optimistic and promising technology developed by the participants in life sciences, agriculture, biotechnology, medical devices, nano science, and material science, whereas the SRISTI-GYTI award is awarded to participants in other engineering streams.



The aim of the award is to appreciate and encourage the use of technology among students to advance towards establishing BioTech and other startups.
