The KAPILA, or Kalam Program for Intellectual Property Literacy and Awareness, has been launched by the Union Education Minister on the 89th birth anniversary of scientist and former president Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam.

The aim of the campaign is to educate students pursuing higher education regarding the correct application procedure to patent their invention and to aware them of their rights.

On the occasion, the IIC 2.0 (Institution Innovation Council) annual report was also presented along with the announcement to launch IIC 3.0. The decision has also been taken to celebrate the 'Intellectual Property Literacy Week' from October 15 to October 23.

The IIC was established by the Ministry of Education and so far, 1700 institutions have been established.
