The NaPSAT (Navonmesh Prasar Student Astronomy Team) comprising ten school students has been chosen to take part in the NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge 2021 which is scheduled to be held in April 2021.



NaPSAT, Navonmesh Prasar Foundation's initiative, is a multidisciplinary team of space admirers who are involved in projects that varies from the design of rovers, space systems, satellites, rockets, and astronomy to taking part in several international affairs.



Founder of Navonmesh Prasar Foundation Anil Pradhan said that the first time a school team from India has been selected for the NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge. He further added that the team was chosen during corona times, identifying 10 students from Odisha. The Foundation provided training to these students and then applied for the Challenge. The team includes school students as well as ITI students and has prepared a human-powered rover that can locomote on the surface of Mars, notified Pradhan.



He also mentioned that the team got selected and got an invitation from NASA for the challenge that will take place in April 2021. To compete with others, a rover has been prepared by the team which will be sent to NASA. The team is also raising funds.



Ankan Mondal, one of the team members, said that their rover is prepared to handle the weight of two persons while locomoting on the surface of Moon and Mars.



The selected team will be sent to Alabama in 2021 to represent India in the challenge.
