1. 44 CRPF Men Killed in J&K Suicide Attack
44 CRPF Personnel were killed on Thursday when a convoy in which they were travelling was attacked by Jaish -e - Mohammed (JeM) terrorist who rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into the convoy near Awantipora on the Srinagar - Jammu Highway.
This is the deadliest attack in terms of casualties in the last three decades of militancy in the state.
2. India withdraws MFN status from Pakistan (source: TOI)
Finance Minister Mr Arun Jaitley announced that the government has decided to withdraw the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status from Pakistan following the Pulwama terror attacks.
This move will allow India to increase customs duties on the goods coming from Pakistan and the export of raw material like cotton and chemicals might stop which will lead to an increase in production cost for the industries in Pakistan.
The MFN status was granted to Pakistan in 1996.
3. India’s fastest train Vande Bharat Express flagged-off (source: The Hindu)
PM Narendra Modi flagged-off India’s fastest train Vande Bharat Express at New Delhi railway station on 15th of February.
The train will travel from New Delhi to Varanasi in 9 hours and 45 minutes which includes stoppage time of 40 minutes each at Kanpur Central and Allahabad Junction respectively.
Vande Bharat is India’s first semi-high speed train which can run upto the speed of 160-km per hour.

Shri Sushil Chandra has assumed the office of Election Commissioner of India on 15th of February.
Mr Chandra joins Chief Election Commissioner Shri Sunil Arora and Election Commissioner Shri Ashok Lavasa.
5. US President might declare National emergency to build a border wall
US President Donald Trump will sign an executive order to proclaim a national emergency.
This will empower him to fund the construction of a massive wall on the US - Mexico border so as to prevent Illegal immigrants from entering the US.

Flight Lieutenant Hina Jaiswal became the first ever women flight engineer in the history of Indian Airforce.
She was Commissioned in January 2015 to the IAF's engineering branch.
7. Scientists discover a mystery frog from Western Ghat (source: The Hindu)
Scientists from Delhi University have discovered a new amphibian- a mysterious narrow-mouthed frog. The frog makes only a four-day appearance in seasonal roadside puddles every year in Kerala’s Wayanad district.
The frog Mysticellus Frankie is not just a new species but also belongs to a completely new genus, Mysticellus.
8. ‘Crying Snake’ discovered by Zoologists (source: The Hindu)
A new species of crying snake was discovered by the Zoologists in Lepa-Rada Arunachal Pradesh.
The zoological name of the snake is Hebius lacrima and it is a non-venomous keelback snake.
