Wanna find out the right course for you that too from a reputed college?

Well, there are lacs of high school pass-outs who go through this state of peer confusion and are unable to make the right decision sometimes because of pressure, and sometimes because of lack of guidance. But don't worry as we are here to help you out. In this article, we have summarized the entire procedure to find out the right course and college into few simple steps. Just go through to know more.

1. Know your choice

The primary thing when choosing your course is to question yourself why you are looking to study further.

“Do you wanna study further to expand your skill set? Are you looking to diversify your knowledge or change career path completely? Do you want to study just for a degree?”

These are few questions that you must ask yourself to understand your goals better. In short,

  • Think about your existing experience and skill set.
  • Consider prospective careers and employment opportunities.
  • Think about what subjects attract you.
  • Talk to your employer, colleagues or peers about which courses are relevant and may improve your career.
  • Make some research on what courses are the need of time and that may have a good demand in future as well.”

2. “What are you really interested in?”- Question yourself!

It’s of great significance to think about what you are interested in, and what course you really want to study. Is it just because you can see your big,  exciting, glittering dream career ahead? Or is it because it’s what your parents want you to be? By exploring yourself, now you can decide the exact path you want your course to take you on.

3. Take a reality check

Once you have found your dream, now just stop for a minute and make sure it’s realistic too. Find out if you can afford the flights, tuition, and cost of living? Do you need to have any specific qualifications first? like– English language proficiency, GMAT scores? Don’t get demotivated – a pathway program may be all you need to cross those obstacles. If this actually is your tantrum, prove it in your scholarship application and you may get some financial help as well!

This is also the point where you really need to think about long you want to study for. To help you take a better decision, check out these examples of study durations for full-time study:

  • Postgraduate Certificate – 6 months
  • Undergraduate Degree – 3 years
  • MA – 1 year
  • Ph. D. – 4 years

4. Where would you like to study?

Know which country is the best to specialize in the subject you want to study? Maybe it’s a country with plenty of internship and graduate work opportunities in that industry. Or just a small city that has access to limited resources. Choose wisely.

5. Look around

Whilst you can read people's reviews and explore the courses online but its always better to personally visit the college, talking to people, and soaking up the atmosphere.

6. Consider locations

This could mean finding somewhere close to your place, or far away, and think about issues like if you want to be in a big city or a smaller town would also go for you. These things matter to your overall experience.

7. Check the career prospects

Universities often make some relevant information like the rates of employment for former students public so that you can access. You can also do some research work on it to make a more clear vision of what opportunities the course you are planning to study can lead you to.

8. Keep in mind-You can always change your mind!

Yes, that's an important decision. But if you get there and you realize you’ve made a terrible mistake, it’s not too late. Talk to the student counselor on campus, and see if there are better options for you there. Don’t waste the next few years of your life staring at textbooks you have no interest in whatsoever. Remember, it’s all about your passion – keep the excitement alive, and you will succeed!
