NIRF 2019: IIT-Kharagpur is the best for Architecture in India

The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT-Kharagpur) remains the best institute for Architecture in India for the second consecutive year with 81.96 per cent score followed by IIT-Roorkee which managed to maintain its second spot in the list with a score of 78.33 per cent score and the third spot went to National Institute of Technology Calicut with a score of 65.53 per cent. This time around, the fourth spot went to School of Planning and Architecture New Delhi with an aggregate score of 62.49 per cent which was earlier held by College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram. In all, 65 different institutes participated in the National Institutional Ranking Framework 2019

The National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) is an approach adopted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India to rank the various higher educational institutions of India. There are separate rankings based on the field of operations of the institutions like universities and colleges, engineering institutions, management institutions, pharmacy institutions and architecture institutions. The framework is operational since 2015 and releases a ranking list of the higher educational institutions in India based on five predefined parameters, known as clusters, like research, resource, outcome, inclusivity and the perception of the stakeholders including the industry and the students.
