An incredible course has been introduced by the Indian Institute of Technology, Indore to educate students in Sanskrit the classical scientific texts, starting with 'Lilavati' the Bhaskaracharya's medical treatise which is almost a thousand years old.

The course started on August 22 and more than 750 people from around the world have enrolled for the course. The first batch will finish on 2nd October.

The fortnightly programmes have been lined up by the institute to teach astronomy, metallurgy, plant sciences and medicine in Sanskrit. The institute aims at teaching students the Indian scientific texts in their authentic form and converse accordingly.

Firstly, the institute will help students in learning Sanskrit enough to parley in the language which will help them to qualify for the next phase of the program where they can converse technical subjects in Sanskrit. After completing the first phase, a qualifying exam will be conducted for the second phase. Candidates who have a technical background and are well versed in Sanskrit can directly apply for the second phase.

It is mandatory for students to participate in the discussion in the Sanskrit language, failing to do so will not be given the course completion certificate.
