Bihar Cabinet Approved Rs 309 Crore to Facilitate Construction of AIIMS Darbhanga

On Tuesday, the government of Bihar approved Rs. 309 crores for soil filling and land levelling work, which would encourage the construction of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Darbhanga.



Additional Chief Secretary (Cabinet Secretariat), S Siddharth, said an amount of Rs 309.29 crore for the construction of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on 189.17 acres of land at cres of land at Darbhanga was recently authorized by the state cabinet led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The approved budget will be utilised for soil filling and land levelling work.



He said this is a significant effort toward promoting the construction of AIIMS at Darbhanga. In September 2020, the Union government granted approval for the AIIMS at Darbhanga, the second in Bihar following Patna, at an assessed cost of Rs 1,264 crore.



Once functional, it will contain 750 beds along with different healthcare facilities. The new AIIMS is expected to be achieved within 48 months from the date of commencing the project. Besides, the cabinet also sanctioned the proposition to engage 2,832 constables who have finished their Promotional Training Courses (PTC) for conducting investigations at various police stations in the state.
