The Central Board of Secondary Education has released a special assessment policy for Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. The assessment policy has been formulated for the session 2021-22 to encounter the board's challenges faced in 2020-21 due to the COVID situation.
The CBSE, through a notice, has informed all affiliated schools about the scheme which has been released in view of the COVID pandemic situation across the country.
Earlier, the board had to cancel both Class 10 and Class 12 board exams due to the pandemic.
The following scheme has been introduced by the board to evaluate the learning outcome for Class 10 and Class 12 for 2021-22 academic session.
Special Assessment Policy for 2021-22:
For the session 2021-22, the academic year will be divided into 02 terms with each term having approximately 50% syllabus. The syllabus will be fractionalized by the subject experts. The exam will be held at the end of term which will be based on the fractionalized syllabus.
The rationalised syllabus to conduct the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams will be similar to the last academic session and the notification regarding this will be released in July.
Also, the board will also try to make the Internal Assessment/ Project/ Practical work more valid and credible according to the guidelines. The Moderation Policy will be released by the Board to ensure that the marks get distributed fairly.
For the students of Class 9 and Class 10, the internal assessments will continue throughout the session irrespective of the term-end exams (TEE). Also, for Class 11 and Class 12, the internal assessment would continue and would include the end of topic/ exploratory activities/ unit tests/ practicals/ projects.
The schools will also be directed to create and retain students' profile for all evaluations undertaken over the year. The students' marks of Internal Assessment will be uploaded by the students on CBSE IT platform. The CBSE will provide the guidelines for internal assessment.
The Term I examination will be held by the Board in Nov-Dec of 2021. The questions paper will consist of MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) including assertion-reasoning type MCQs and case-based MCQs. The test will be held for the duration of 90 minutes. The Term-II exam will be conducted around March-April 2022 at the exam center selected by the board.
In case the pandemic situation forces the complete closure of the schools and the Board held Term I exams and Term II exams are attempted by the students from their home in 2021-22 session, the result would be based on Internal Assessment/ Project work/ Practical and Theory marks of Term-I and Term-II exams.
