Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, has launched a 02-week-long certificate programme for health assistants. The course has been launched to equip applicants with the basic knowledge and skills to fight any medical crisis.

The course has been launched in partnership with the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and an amount of Rs 5 crore has been disbursed by the Delhi government for the initiative.

Under the programme, 500 trainees will be included in the first batch, who will be provided with the knowledge of heart functioning, life support, Covid-care, sampling, blood testing, first aid, home care etc, as notified through an official statement. The trainees will also be taught about how to measure blood pressure, oxygen, and how to inject medicines.

The course is divided into 02 stages: the first week will include demonstrative and didactic training, whereas the second week will be about the practical experience of the trainees.

A total of 09 hospitals in Delhi have been roped in for the programme. These hospitals are Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Chacha Nehru Child Clinic, Ambedkar Medical College, Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, ESIC Hospital Basaidarapur, Vardhaman Mahavir Hospital and Hindu Rao Hospital.

The training will be provided in batches of 500 by the Govt, with a total of 5,000 trainees. After completion of the course, they will receive a certificate and a medical kit which will include a thermometer, a blood pressure monitoring device, and an oximeter.

Within 04 days, 1.5 lakh people have applied for this course, reported Sisodia and also added that the Govt is planning to make it a long-term initiative.
