Under the scheme, the Ministry has increased the income ceiling to Rs. 3.5 lakh per annum, as earlier, it was Rs. 1.5 lakh.

Under the scheme, the scholarships are awarded to meritorious students from economically-weaker section communities as an encouragement so that they can continue their education at the secondary level.

The Ministry informed that a total of 01 lakh fresh scholarships of Rs 12,000/ annum (Rs 1,000 each month) are awarded to each shortlisted student of Class 09 every year which is renewed for their study continuation in Class 10 to Class 12 in state government, govt-aided and local body schools.
