Facebook India has announced a new programme, the FITS (Facebook India Tech Scholars) programme, for law students in the nation. The aim of the programme is to provide selected students a platform for mentorship and research on technology, law and policy related topics.

Under the 1st edition of the programme, eight law students will be offered an opportunity to work on a research project with prime Indian establishments. These think tanks will also mentor the students.

The programme will be open for students studying in 4-year and 5-year. The list of the institutes which can participate in the programme are:

The social networking giant informed that the programme has been designed to motivate students to develop an individual voice on crucial issues which will be related to the future policy discussions. It also added that the programme will soon be extended to more students.

Under the FITS programme, the mentoring institutions are the Centre for Internet and Society, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace India, the Software Freedom Law Centre, and the Observer Research Foundation.

The application procedure has been started and the last date to apply is June 20, 2021. The Programme will be conducted for the duration of 09 months.
