The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay has launched the e-Yantra Innovation Challenge 2022-23 to look for solutions for comprehensive urban infrastructure. e-Yantra is a Robotics outreach program to cater to budding engineers in clarifying problems using technology.



The registration process for this innovation challenge has commenced and will continue till Sept 25. Interested teams can participate in the challenge through the official website at eyic.e-yantra.org



eYIC (e-Yantra Innovation Challenge) is an annual competition and around 25 lakhs worth of prizes will be granted. The winners who successfully pitch their ideas will be granted seed funding of Rs 1 crores.



The competition train student teams in pivotal skills through MOOCs before asking them to provide solutions for real-world issues and build startups. Around 2000 students have participated since the commencement of the competition in 2014 in the Challenge.



The challenge is divided into 04 stages:





  • Stage 1: A training sprint to familiarise participating teams with the theme, to train them in technologies, and to help them in articulating problems.




  • Stage 2: A prototyping sprint for teams to work under the mentorship and to build a prototype




  • Stage 3: An innovation sprint to help in developing a pitch to an Incubator.




  • Stage 4: An implementation sprint for teams to refine their PoC (Proof-of-concept).





The theme for the challenge is Sustainable and Advanced Technologies for Helping Urban Inclusivity and Agriculture. The Ministry of Education, Govt of India, is funding the e-Yantra project which will be hosted at the IIT Bombay's CSE Department.
