The Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur researchers fabricated a decision framework called 'Campus RAKSHAK' for educational institutions. The framework will integrate various tools and applications into one to ensure the smooth resumption of colleges and to curb the possible spread of COVID-19.

Under this initiative, the IIT Jodhpur has collaborated with IIT Kharagpur, IIIT Hyderabad, IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, HeathBadge Private Limited, Algorithmic Biologics Pvt Ltd, and Prthvi.AI to build, integrate and test to ensure safety on college campuses.

The two prototypes of 'Campus RAKSHAK' have already been tested at IIIT Hyderabad and IIT Jodhpur. The team is already in discussion to devise an affordable and flexible pricing model, product, marketing, and sales strategy to connect to campuses across the nation.

The Campus RAKSHAK has 04 components i.e.

  • Tapestry Pooling: assigns individual samples to multiple pools at the 1/4th cost of screening to predicts COVID positive samples.

  • Go Corona Go App: a mobile app, similar to Aarogya Setu, to conduct contact tracing by remaining connected to the campus server through the phone Bluetooth.

  • Simulators: to predict the spread of COVID-19 positivity in the upcoming days, also considered an advisory system.

  • Healthbadge: an information management and badging system to issues green, orange, and red badges to students after the investigation of coronavirus infection.

These components form a single platform to monitor, predict, and suggest mitigation strategies against COVID.

At present, an amount of Rs. 250/ user is being charged by the iHuB Drishti from the institutions to opt for the programme.

The Director of IIT Jodhpur Santanu Chaudhury said, "The Campus RAKSHAK project is the outcome of consortium-based research to serve as an advisory system for the campus administrators".
