On Wednesday, an official said the Indian Army changed its recruitment procedure to get the right mix of brains and brawn into the force.



Army Recruitment Officer Colonel G Suresh said earlier we used to have a written exam at the end of the recruitment procedure, but now it will be the first thing to do so that the recruits are physically powerful and brainy.



He said the other tests: medical and physical endurance – will be carried out after the written exam. Colonel Suresh stated that the other significant change in the recruitment process is that the aspirants pay exam fees of Rs 500 to appear in the written examination.



Out of this exam fee, the Indian Army will be paying Rs 250 while the candidate will have to pay only Rs 250," Colonel added. The registration process for recruitment as Agniveer began with the nationwide notification issued before this month.



According to the revised recruitment process, a computer-based online common entrance exam (CEE) will be held before the recruitment rally. The Army had recently put advertisements about the change in the recruitment procedure in different newspapers.



The statement said recruitment is divided into three stages. In the first stage, all registered candidates who applied online on the website will appear for the CEE. In stage two, the shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a recruitment rally at a location chosen by respective Army Recruitment Offices (AROs), where they will give a physical fitness test and measurement test. Finally, in stage three, the shortlisted candidates will undergo medical tests.
