The Social Justice Department, Kerala has launched a project, Yathnam, to provide financial aid to transgender aspirants. The aid will be provided to transgender candidates for undergoing training for competitive exams.



R. Bindu, Minister for Social Justice, informed that the administrative has already sanctioned Rs 06.85 lakhs for the project this year.



Under this project, the assistance will be provided for training forUPSC, PSC, RRB, Banking services, UGC, NET, JRF, CAT and MAT exams. The interested candidates preparing for competitive examinations will be granted up to Rs.8,500 for coaching up to 06 months. The Govt will provide this assistance to shortlisted 10 aspirants.



A total of 10 candidates preparing for UPSC, PSC, RRB and Banking services will receive a maximum of Rs. 40,000 each and 05 candidates preparing for UGC NET, JRF will be granted a maximum of Rs. 40,000, added the Minister.



Dr Bindu further added that the Govt will provide the assistance under Yathnam scheme from the earmarked amount of Rs. 4.5 crore for transgender welfare projects.
