The Union Education Ministry. has informed that the next round of the NAS (National Achievement Survey) will be held on Nov 12 across the country.



The aim of the Survey is to evaluate the students' competencies of Class 03, Class 05, Class 08, and Class 10.



The next round of the Survey will be conducted across the country to help to evaluate the learning interruptions and new learnings during the COVID pandemic and also assist in taking remedial measures. The NCERT has taken care of the instrument development, testing of the test items, finalization, and sampling of the schools among other important things.



Although, the test's actual administration in the sampled schools will be executed by the Central Board of Secondary Education in collaboration with the respective States/ Union Territories, notified the Education Ministry.



The Government of India has implemented a rotational programme of sample-based NAS (National Achievement Survey) which is aimed at Class 03, Class 05, Class 08, and Class 10 with a cycle period of 03 years.



The last Survey was conducted on Nov 13, 2017, to evaluate the children's competencies at Class 03, Class 05, and Class 08.



The Education Ministry also informed that NAS 2021 will cover the entire spectrum of schools, i.e. Govt-Aided, Govt (Central and State Govt), and Private schools across the nation.



Around 38 lakh students and 1.23 lakh schools in 733 districts across 36 states/ union territories will be participating in the Survey.



The Test will be held in 22 languages. The Ministry also said, "A total of 1,82,488 field investigators, 1,23,729 observers, 733 district-level coordinators and district nodal officers separately and 36 state nodal officers in each State and UT, have been appointed".
