Every year, more than 17 million people die from heart disease. As a method to fight this, the World Heart Federation formed World Heart Day. World Heart Day is an event carried out every year on September 29.

People across the globe can find events that boost awareness about (CVD) cardiovascular disease- its warning signs, the measures you can take to fight it, and efforts to help those near you who may be suffering. On September 29, fight CVD- cardiovascular disease by getting involved with a World Heart Day event near you.

History of World Heart Day

World Heart Day is celebrated every year on September 29 to raise awareness of cardiovascular diseases and how to control them to balance their global influence. The international holiday of World Heart Day was specified by the World Heart Federation in association with the World Health Organization (WHO).

President, World Heart Federation, 1997 to 1999, Antoni Bayés de Luna, originated this idea. The first celebration of the annual event was carried out on September 24, 2000, and until 2011, World Heart Day was celebrated on the last Sunday in September.

(CVD) Cardiovascular diseases are the most common reasons of death across the globe. More than 17 million people die from (CVD) cardiovascular disease every year. Strokes or coronary heart disease were the vital causes of these deaths. A typical misinterpretation about CVD is that it affects more people in developed countries who rely on technology and live sedentary lifestyles. Over 80% of the deaths happen in middle-income and low-income nations. The primary causes of (CVD) cardiovascular disease are flexible factors, which include an absence of exercise, poor diet, and smoking. The economic systems and strategies of nations are also majorly affected by (CVD) cardiovascular diseases - the cost of the cure is high, and failure to treat the illnesses timeously results in losing productivity and long absences from career.

Over 90 countries participate in this international observance every year. As a result, World Heart Day has been established to be a persuasive means for spreading information about CVD. A high level of involvement from organizations and governments is necessary for developing countries, which are highly impacted by these diseases.

The World Heart Federation carries out the international event and announces a theme for the day. Distribution of discussion and information on (CVD) cardiovascular diseases are shared on platforms such as forums, podcasts, posters, television talk shows, events, and more. Walks, free health checkups, fund-raisers, concerts, sporting events, and additional activities are carried out in order to inspire people to be more engaged and conscious of their health.

Before the holiday or the special day, scientific meetings on cardiovascular research are hosted by medical organizations.
