TNSDC Partners With Coursera To Train 50,000 Unemployed Youth During Pandemic

The TNSDC (Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation) has collaborated with Coursera, an online learning platform, to upskill 50,000 unemployed youth during the corona pandemic.



The collaboration is initiated under the 'Workforce Recovery Initiative' of Coursera's global uprise which states that any state/ country can impart free access to online learning to unemployed workers. The Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation will provide access to Coursera's 4000 courses to interested candidates across the state to evolve skills such as cloud computing, data science, AI, blockchain and the Internet of Things.



The initiative will also provide access to highly in-demand certificate courses such as the Google IT Support Professional Certificate which is planned keeping in mind the people who have no technical background but still wish to pursue IT jobs.



The last date to apply for the courses is October 31. Jeff Maggioncalda, Coursera's Chief Executive Officer, said, "Employability and Skilling is a major challenge around the globe and COVID-19 has made it worse". He also added that its an honour to collaborate with Tamil Nadu state which is known for its talent pool and innovative policies.
