Uttar Pradesh govt school teacher, Firoz Khan, has been selected for the National Award for Teachers for using ICT (Information Communication Technology) for innovation in education. He is one of the several teachers who have been selected, as announced by the CIET (Central Institute of Educational Technology), NCERT, New Delhi.

Mr. Khan is an assistant teacher at primary school in Chidawak, Bulandshahr. He used the technology to modify the way education is imparted in schools. He informed that when he joined the schools in 2007, there were just 150 students which has increased to 800 in 13 years because he started to use the technology in the classroom to make learning enjoyable.

According to Khan, the main concern was to make education fascinating and enjoyable for them. He added that he used tablets and mobile phones to teach them rhymes which showed greater improvement. He also used the audio-visual mode of communication for teaching other subjects, added Khan. "Today, students don't want to miss any class," said Khan.

At present, there are 18 teachers, including 3 para teachers, who believe in granting quality education.

The Director of State Institute of Educational Technology, UP Lalita Pradeep said, "Teachers with technological knowledge and application are an asset to the department. I congratulate Mr Firoz Khan. He has really made the State proud. I am sure this will motivate other teachers to infuse more of ICT in education".

During the COVID's first wave, Firoz, to create awareness among rural masses about the virus, took to street paintings in Bulandshahr. The aim was to educate rural people the importance of staying inside their homes, added Firoz.
