Every year on October 05, World Teachers' Day is celebrated around the world to acknowledge and celebrate the efforts of educators including teachers, professors, and researchers.

World Teachers' Day is celebrated by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) in partnership with UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund), ILO (International Labour Organisation) and Education International.

The day also celebrates the ceremony of the 1966 ILO/ UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers which was adopted in 1994. This Recommendation has regulated guidelines concerning the rights and responsibilities of educators and norms for their initial preparation and further education, recruitment, teaching, employment and learning conditions.

World Teachers' Day 2020 is being celebrated under the theme of "Teachers: Leading in Crisis, Reimagining the Future".

On this occasion, the UNESCO-Hamdan Prize Award Ceremony will also be held from October 05 to October 12 with various regional, national, and global events.
