The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune held the AFMC Nursing Entrance examination which acts as the gateway for admissions for the deserving female candidates to the 4 years B.Sc Nursing course offered by the college. 

Conducting Body: The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) is a medical college in Pune, India, in the state of Maharashtra. The institute is governed by the Indian Armed Forces. Founded in May 1948 on the order of the BC Roy Committee, parts of various Indian Army Medical Corps units were amalgamated to create the Armed Forces Medical Services. The AFMC undergraduate wing was founded on 4 August 1962, which is also celebrated yearly as AFMC Day by its alumni across the globe.

Selection Procedure:-The examination is held at the national level. 

The applicants should be select based on the written exam, an interview round, and a medical test. Qualified applicants are called for an objective type written test of 90 minutes duration, which is to be taken as per the scheduled dates. Based on the merit of the written test, applicants will be called for interview. The final selection will be based on the combined merit of the written test & interview.

  • Written Test: The medium of examination is only in the English language. The written examination contains 200 objective type questions divided into 5 sections (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Intelligence, Logic and Reasoning, English Language, and Comprehension). The total time duration of the examination is 1 and a half hours (90 minutes).

Note:- There is no provision of negative marking.

Interview Round: The shortlisted applicants from the written test will be called for a personal interview round which will be held by the experts.

Medical Test: After the completion of the interview round, the applicants will have to undergo a medical fitness test to be held by the Special Medical Board (SMB). 

Final Merit List: The final merit list is prepared based on the performances of the candidate in the written test and the interview round. The candidates who have passed the medical test will only be considered for admissions.

  • Educational Qualifications:- Candidate must have passed (10+2) or equivalent with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects with at least 50%aggregate marks, or pass 10th standard with three years Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery & have an experience of 5 years in the profession.

  • Additional Qualification: Applicants must have 3 years Diploma in general Nursing Midwifery with at least two years of experience.

The English subject exam is arranged to understand the candidate's knowledge in the language as well as how the candidate would comprehend written material and also the candidates' reading skills. The English section includes questions regarding:

  • Comprehension of a written passage.

  • Correction of sentences.

  • Concepts like word definitions, analogies, antonyms, synonyms, , parallel relationships.

  • Your ability to logically and systematically completing a sentence will be tested here.

- Logical Intelligence Syllabus:

  • The applicants will be tested in areas of decision-making skills and logical reasoning and. This contains concepts like series, coding, arranging, numbering and family tree.
