Overview

AILET also known as All India Law Entrance Test is held to provide admission to eligible candidates in undergraduate UG), postgraduate (PG) and doctorate (PhD) level Law courses. AILET is a university-level entrance exam is held for admissions at NLU Delhi as the university does not accept any other law entrance exam for admissions.

Conducting Body: All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is held by the National Law University, Delhi. The exam is conducted for admissions to its B.A. LL.B (Hons.), LL.M and P.hD. programs. The examination is held in Offline mode. The exam is held annually for candidates who wish to join Law colleges.

Selection Procedure:

The AILET Test is held in two stage:-

  • Written test 

  • Interview

Exam pattern: 

The exam is conducted in Offline . The total time duration is of One and a half hour (90 minutes). The paper consist of 100 objective type questions divided into 2 sections. Each question carry one mark. The format of the examination is as follows:-

Note:- There is a provision of negative marking.0.25 marks from the total allotted mark gets deducted for each wrong answer.

Eligibility:

- Age Limit: No age limit.

- Educational Qualification:

  • Should have an LLM degree from any recognised university

  • At least 55% marks in the qualifying degree examination (50% for SC/ST).  Or

  • If the law degree is completed along with a master’s degree such as MPhil in Social Sciences/ Humanities from any recognised university with atleast 55% marks then the research work held by candidates must be relevant and with special focus on topics like Public Policy of Law.

  • A PhD and A degree in law in any discipline. 

  • Worked as a State High Court Judge in India for at least three years .

Ques 2. Is AILET tougher than CLAT?

Ans. Yes, the difficulty level of AILET is usually higher than the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).

Ans. No, NLU Delhi has not prescribed any lower or upper age limit.

Ans. The exam is held for undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses in law, therefore, candidates need to select the course they are applying for.

 Ques 7. Which documents are required for submission of application?

Ans. Scanned photo and signature.

Ques 8. What should be the size of the photograph and signature for uploading?

Ans. The size of the scanned photograph &scanned signature should be 150kb. . Both document files should be in jpeg or bmp format.

Ques 9. How can applicant to pay the application fee?

Ans. Application fee can be paid online by Debit Card, Credit Card or Net Banking and offline through Cash Deposit at post office.

Ques 10. How many centres are there in exam?

Ans. There are 20 test centres available  and candidates are asked to choose three preferences.

Ques 11. When can a applicant download the admit card?

Ans. The applicant  can be downloaded the admit card at least 3-4 days prior the exam date.
