Overview
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is the most competitive national level law aptitude test conducted by National Law Universities. The exam is conducted on a rotational basis for admissions to 3 years or 5 years Integrated LLB and LLM Programs to the 22 law universities in India and the other participating institutes. The examination is held in pen and paper mode (offline). The exam is held annually for candidates who wish to join Law colleges.
Earlier, the exam was conducted by NLUs on a rotational basis. The consortium comprises an Executive Committe, the CLAT convenor of the current year & the following year and two co-opted Vice-Chancellors of NLUs.
Conducting Body: CLAT is held by a permanent body which is known as the Consortium of NLUs and is created by the National Law Universities with a headquarters at NLSIU Bangalore.

Exam pattern:- CLAT examination is conducted for admissions to the UG and PG level courses.The total time duration of the examination is of 2 hours (120 minutes) which have 150 Objective type questions divided into 3 sections. The format of the examination is as follows:-

Note:- There is a provision of negative marking. 0.25 marks from the total allotted mark gets deducted for each wrong answer.
CLAT Counselling:- The candidates whose name features in the merit list are called for CLAT Counselling which is conducted online. The counseling fee is Rs. 50,000/-.

The Tort Law- based on codifying statutes including statutes related to damages.

Contract- a piece of legal document which is considered a mutual agreement made by two or more parties and enforceable by law.

International Law- set of legal guidelines and contracts that govern the relations between two states/nations.

Ques 1. What is the purpose CLAT exam?
Ans. CLAT is one of the most popular Law Entrance exams for admissions to top law schools in India consisting 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) and 40 other private law colleges and universities across India in UG and PG law courses on the basis of CLAT scores. Therefore, with just one law entrance exam, candidates get admission opportunity at prominent law schools in India.

Ans. No, candidates can fill CLAT application form in online mode only on the official website of the Consortium of NLUs.

Ans. No, there is no upper age limit or a lower age limit to appear for the CLAT exam.
Ques 4. Is there any provision of fee exemption for Reserved category?
Ans. No, there is no such provision for any category. The fee is 4000/- for General category candidates and 3500/- for Reserved category candidates.
Ques 5.How can candidates to pay the application fee?
Ans. Application fee can be paid online through Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking and offline through bank challan.
Ques 6. Is there any provision to edit the application after submission?
Ans. No changes can be made once the form is submitted and the fee is paid.
Ques 7. Which documents are required for submission of application?
Ans. Scanned photo, signature and domicile certificate must be uploaded while submitting the form.
Ques 8. What should be the size of the photograph, signature and domicile certificate?
Ans. The size of the scanned photograph should be 500kb; the size of the scanned signature should be 100kb and the size of the domicile certificate should be 2MB. Both photograph and signature files should be in jpeg format and the domicile certificate must be in pdf format.
Ques 9. Can a candidate need to submit the hard copy of the CLAT application form to the consortium?
Ans. No, hard copy of the CLAT application form needs to be sent to the CLAT Consortium office.

Ans. No, there is no need to attest any document that needs to be uploaded at the time of filling of the application form.
