Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) Selection Procedure
Selection Procedure: There are generally two types of GRE tests:

GRE General Test

GRE Subject Test
- GRE General Test: It is the most common test taken by the applicants who want to take admissions to the MS in the various fields offered by colleges across the globe, especially the US. The GRE Exam is conducted around the year, and candidates can appear for the GRE General Test as per their convenience
- GRE Subject Test: The GRE Subject Test is conducted to evaluate the competency level of a candidate in a particular subject. This test is generally taken by applicants who seek admissions to specific courses. The Subject Test is conducted for Mathematics, Literature (English), Physics and Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, and Biochemistry. this test is conducted only thrice a year in April, September, and October and is available only in paper-delivered format.
Exam Pattern:- GRE is conducted in both the modes, i.e., online and offline, with a different set of patterns.

- GRE General Test
Computer-based Pattern: The computer-based pattern of the GRE test has five sections namely Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Unscored Section, and Research Section. The total time duration of the examination is 3 hours and 40 minutes. A break of 10 minutes is allowed after the completion of the third section. The analytical writing section contains 1 question each based on Issue and Argument analysis. The scores of the Unidentified Unscored Section and Identified Research Section are not considered for the final GRE score.

- GRE Subject Test: The total time duration of the GRE Subject Test is 2 hours and 50 minutes. It is conducted for six different subjects, namely, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, Literature(English). The number of questions for each of these subjects varies.
