Overview

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade hold its annual entrance examinations for admissions to its MBA (IB) course. 

Conducting Body: IIFT is an independent public business school. It conducts an autonomous entrance examination across different centers in India.

Selection Procedure:-There are two stages in the selection procedure-

  • IIFT Written Test

  • IIFT selection procedure.

Exam Pattern:

  • IIFT Written TestThe applicants will have to write the written test in the first week of December which will be a shortlisting round. The written test will consist of questions in the objective form. The total duration  is 2 hours and the number of questions ranges from 120-125 each year. There are questions related to the following topics. The written examination is held in the offline mode and will consist of questions from the following six sections:-

  • Reading Comprehension

  • Verbal Ability

  • Quantitative Aptitude

  • Logical Reasoning

  • Data Interpretation

  • General Knowledge

Note:- The total number of questions keeps on varying every year. The total time duration  is 2 hours. Each question carries -.75 or 1 mark. It is a provision of negative marking and  -1/3 marks deducted.

  • IIFT selection procedure (Essay Writing, Group Discussion (GD) & Personal Interview (PI)):- The shortlisted applicants will have to write an essay examination in the first step. After this, the applicants have  the Group Discussion and the Personal Interview .

Final Selection:- The applicants whose name will feature in the list of qualified candidates shall be called for the next round of the selection procedure. This round will consist of a Written Test, Essay Writing, Group Discussion (GD) & Personal Interview.

The weightage given to each round is according to the following table:-

Note:- For the interview round, 2% will be awarded to gender diversity. For a male candidate, the interview round will carry 18% weightage.

  • Age Limit:- There is no age limit.

  • Educational Qualification:- Graduation degree of a minimum three years duration or equivalent with 50% (45% for SC/ST/PwD) aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA score.

Ques 1. Have any provision for reservation at the exam for MBA-IB Programme?

Ans. Yes, there is a provision of reservation of seats at IIFT for, ST, SC and OBC.

Ques 2. Can only GMAT scorers apply for admissions?

Ans. Yes, in case the applicant has appeared for any MBA entrance test (XAT/ CAT/ IIFT) in the year of admission in India, he/ she will be counted ineligible for admission.

Ques 3. How many exam centers should be select while filling IIFT application form and can I change my center for any reason if needed?

Tier 2 Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Allahabad, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Indore, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kochi, Nagpur and Visakhapatnam

If you prefer Tier 2 city for Written Test then you need to pick another alternative from Tier 1 cities to appear for GD, WAT, and PI.

Ques 4. Which B-schools accept IIFT Entrance test scores?

Ans. The entrance examination is used for admission into MBA IB program given at IIFT's New Delhi and Kolkata campus.

Ans. Yes, the syllabus for the IIFT exam is similar to CAT for English, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. However, IIFT candidates have to study General Awareness too as it is one of the four parts of the IIFT question paper.

Ans. Yes, an average student can surely get into IIFT if that student does well in the entrance exam and clears the group discussion and personal interview with confidence and positivity.

Ans. IIFT takes only through their own entrance exam, IIFT exam. And, the percentage expected is 98 percentile plus.
