IIT Joint Admission Test (JAM) Exam Pattern

Joint Admission Test (JAM) Exam Pattern:

The exam is conducted in Online (computer based) mode and in two sessions (Morning & Afternoon). The duration of the exam is 03 hours. The medium of the test is English only. The questions asked in 3 different patterns such as Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type Questions (NAT). The question paper is of 100 marks and the total no. of questions are 60. A total of 7 papers are organized for the JAM exam.

Section A

30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)

  • 10 questions of 1 marks

  • 20 questions of 2 marks

50 marks

Section B

10 Multiple Select Questions (MSQ)

  • 10 questions of 2 marks

20 marks

Section C

20 Numerical Answer Type (NAT)

  • 10 question of 1 marks

  • 10 questions of 2 marks

30 marks

- Marking scheme of the exam: There is a provision of Negative Marking for section A only. 

  • 1/3 marks get deducted for each question having total of 1 mark and 2/3 marks for each question having 2 marks.
