Bihar Teacher Eligibility Test (BTET) Selection Procedure:

  • Candidates are selected based on the performance in the Entrance Exam held by BSEB.

  • Candidates are shortlisted based on marks secured in the Entrance Exam.

  • Candidates also have to go through a counselling based on Merit List.

Bihar Teacher Eligibility Test (BTET) Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:

The candiadte should pass the upper Secondary examination with at least 50 marks.

It is a relaxation of 45 marks if the applicants belong to a reserved class.

1. Senior Secondary/ Higher Secondary(or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum 50% score and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED)

OR

2.Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum 50% result and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED).

OR

3./ Senior Secondary / Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum 50% score and having a Diploma in Education (Special Education), approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India(RCI)

OR

4. 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED) or Graduation. 

Age Criteria: Candidates should be between 21 to 35 years.

Bihar Teacher Eligibility Test (BTET) Syllabus:

Child Development Pedagogy: Child Development (Primary School Children): Understanding Children with the special needs, Concept of Inclusive Education and Learning Pedagogy

Mathematics: Shapes, Algebra, Mensuration, Geometry, Arithmetic, Numbers and Spatial Understanding

Language I: Perception-based questions for language development

Language II (English): Understanding based question in English and advancement of language

Social Sciences/Social Studies: Social and Political Life Geography,History etc

Environmental Studies: Habitats,Water Natural Resources, Solar System, Air, Parts of Body, Food Resource and Care, Our Surroundings

Ques 1. Is there any relaxation in the qualifying marks for SC/ST?

Ans: Sc/ST/OBC/Differently Abled Category candidates have the advantage of 5% relaxation in marks.

Ques 2. What is the minimum score to qualify the exam?

Ans: Applicants need to score a minimum of 60% marks in Bihar TET to qualify in the examination.

Ques 3. Is a B.Com B.Ed student eligible for the Bihar TET?

Ans: If you have 4 years of Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED) degree than you are eligible for Bihar TET.

Ques 4. What type of question can I expect in the Paper-II of the Bihar TET exam? 

Ans: The questions in the tests for Paper II will be based on the subjects of the prescribed syllabus of the Bihar State for classes VI-VIII but the difficulty standard could be up to the senior secondary stage.

Ques 5. What is the valid period of the Bihar TET passing certificate?

Ans: The valid period of the Bihar TET qualifying certificate is seven years for all the categories.  

Ques 6. I want to apply for Bihar TET. So, I need to know about the age limit?

Ans: Age limit to apply for Bihar TET:

  • General male and female- 35 years.

  • OBC male and female-38 years.

  • SC / ST male and female-42 years.

However, relaxation of 3 years is given to OBC applicants and 5 years to SC/ ST applicants.

Ques 7. What is the number of attempts I can appear for the exam?

Ans: There is no limitation on the number of trials a person can take to pass Bihar TET.

Ans: Bihar TET Qualifying Marks

  1. For category except SC/ST/Differently abled/ PH - 60% (90/150)

  2. For SC/ST/Differently abled/ PH - 55% (83/150)

Ques 9. I have done a diploma in elementary education may I eligible for secondary teacher exam?

Ans: Yes you are eligible. The applicants who has Senior Secondary / Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum of 50% marks and has finished a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED) can apply.

Ques 10. If I clear Bihar TET and still in my final year of Bachelor's Degree, am I eligible to apply? 

Ans: Applicants who are appearing in the final year of Bachelor Degree in Education or Diploma in Elementary Education etc. are temporarily admitted and their Bihar TET Certificate shall be confirmed only on passing the aforesaid Examinations.
