  • CELPIP-General

  • CELPIP-General LS.

- CELPIP General is perfect for somebody who needs evidence of English language skills when applying for permanent occupant status in Canada under the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Start-up Visa Program, and several Provincial Nominee Programs, or for hire.  Refugees, Immigration and Citizenship Canada has two approved English language tests: CELPIP-General and IELTS General Training Test: International English Language Testing System.

- CELPIP General LS is proper for somebody who needs evidence of listening and speaking proficiency for Canadian citizenship. The CELPIP General LS Test is affirmed by IRCC as one of only two designated English language for Canadian citizenship.

In June 2015, Paragon Testing Enterprises left the CELPIP-Academic Test by acquiring the Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment.

Ques 1. Since the CELPIP Test is fully computer-delivered, can I take this test remotely?

Ans. The CELPIP Test is fully computer-delivered. However, the test must be completed in person at one of our test centers.

Ques 2. I don’t live in Canada. Can I take the test in my country?

Ans. CELPIP Tests are now available internationally, with test sittings available in UAE, USA, Philippines, and India.

Ques 3. Is the CELPIP-General Test designated by Quebec Immigration?

Ans. Currently, the CELPIP-General Test is not considered a designated English language test by the Quebec Immigration Office. Quebec establishes its immigration requirements. 

Ques 4. What is the passing score?

Ans. Each component of the test is given a CELPIP Level and there is no pass or fail. It is recommended that you contact the institution to which you are applying for their English language requirements.

Ques 5. How do I request special arrangements?

Ans. If you have a disability or special condition that might require special arrangements, please fill out the Special Accommodations Request Form and submit it to Paragon Testing Enterprises to request such arrangements. A minimum of 2 months’ advance notice before the registered CELPIP Test sitting date must be provided for the request to be considered. Applications must be accompanied by medical documentation (in English or interpreted by an authorized translator into English) assigned within 2 years of the requested date by a specialist who is equipped to evaluate the test taker’s exceptional needs. Each application is approached on a case-by-case basis and must be evaluated and recommended by Paragon’s central CELPIP Office before special orders for a test sitting can be sanctioned.

Ques 6. What is the Minimum Score Required For CELPIP?

Ans. If you’re applying under the Express Entry stream, the minimum score required is 7.0. If you’re applying under the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the minimum score required is 4.0.

Ques 7. How Long Will It Take to Get My CELPIP Results?

Ans. It takes about 8 days to receive your CELPIP results online and another 3 days to receive it in person.

Ques 8. Which Test Should I Take – IELTS or CELPIP?

Ans. Quite simply, IELTS is for those individuals who are pursuing study, work or immigration endeavors in a wide range of English speaking countries. CELPIP is for those individuals who are pursuing a Canadian permanent residence status or Canadian citizenship. In some instances, you can do either/or and aren’t limited to just one.

IELTS is offered in over 140 countries. CELPIP is offered only in Canada, India, the U.S., Philippines, and the UAE.

Ques 9. How Long is the CELPIP Test?

Ans. The maximum time allowed for the CELPIP General Training is around 3 hours. The time allowed for the CELPIP General LS is about 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Ans. Unlike IELTS, each functional area of the CELPIP test is scored between 1 – 12 and the overall band score is tabulated based on the average.
