The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is a recruitment body which has been established to design institutionalized mechanisms for recruiting young professionals in the Public Sector Banks(except State Bank of India) across India.

IBPS PO examination is organized by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection to select young professionals for the Probationary Officers in the Public Sector Banks across the country.

IBPS PO Conducting Body: The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), founded on 1975, is a recruitment body for the exam. The objective of IBPS was to encourage the recruitment and placement of young graduates in public sector banks in India. Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conducts exam every year for the post of Probationary Officer for banks across the Nation.

IBPS PO Selection Procedure:- The IBPS PO Selection Procedure consists of three main stages.:-

Preliminary Examination
Mains Examination
Interview

The candidates have to qualify in all the stages to get selected for the post of Probationary Officer.

IBPS PO Exam Pattern:

Preliminary Exam:- The Preliminary Exam is an Objective type examination consisting of 3 sections- English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability. The duration of the examination is of 60 minutes (1 hour).

Note:- There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks from the total allotted mark to the question for each wrong answer.

Mains Exam:- Only those candidates who qualify the Preliminary examination can write this exam. The Mains Examination is also an Online examination.
IBPS PO Mains Exam consists of 4 sections: Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, English Language, Data Analysis and Interpretation, Gen. Economy/Banking Awareness. The exam duration is 180 minutes. The Mains Examination has a Descriptive paper as well. The applicant has to write an essay and a letter in a span of 30 minutes. This section carries 25 marks.

Note:

There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer(in the objective portion only).
The medium of instructions of the examination is Bilingual i.e. English and Hindi language.
The essay and letter writing section, however, is in the English language only.

Interview:- Candidates who qualify the Mains Exam is finally called for the Interview. The Interview carries 100 marks. The minimum qualifying marks for the interview stage is 40% for the general category and 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD.

Final Selection:- The final selection of the candidate depends on the cumulative scores obtained in the Mains and the Interview process by the candidate. The weightage of both these sections of the examination is in the ratio of 80:20 respectively.

IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria:-

Age Limit:- 20 to 30 years. Relaxation to the Reserved category is as follows:-

Educational Qualification:- Candidate must have done Graduation or equivalent from any recognised university/ institute in any stream.

Ques 1. Is there any Sectional timing for the preliminary exam?

Ans. Yes, Each section is separately timed.

Ques 2. What are the requisites to be scanned & uploaded?

Ans. There are 4 requisites: Signature, Photograph, a Hand Written note and Left Thumb Impression.

Ques 3. What is the text for the Hand Written declaration which is required while filling the form?

Ans. The text is as follows:

"I ______(name of the candidate) hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required."

Ques 4. In what size does the photograph has to be scanned for uploading?

Ans. 4.5 cm by 3.5 cm

Ques 5. What is the age relaxation for SC/ST candidates?

Ans. The age relaxation for SC/ST candidates is 5 years.

Ques 6. I'm from the OBC category. Can I apply in the EWS category as well?

Ans. A candidate can apply either under the OBC category or under the EWS category. He/ she can't apply under both categories.

Ques 7. I've scored 55% marks in my graduation. Can I apply?

Ans. Yes, You can apply. There is no condition for graduation marks.

Ques 8. What is the pattern for scoring in IBPS PO Exam?

Ans. The correct scores obtained by each candidate in different sessions is normalized using the equi-percentile method. For the purpose of calculation scores up to two decimal points are taken.

Ques 9. How is the exam pattern of IBPS PO different than that of SBI PO?

Ans. IBPS PO exams have sectional cut-off which is not the case with SBI PO.

Ques 10. I have given exams of my final year graduation but the result has not yet been declared. Can I apply?

Ans. Yes, a candidate can apply provided the final results are declared before the PO exam.

Ques 11. If I give the exam from Madhya Pradesh and I clear all the steps in the exam, Am I to be placed in Madhya Pradesh only or anywhere in India?

Ans. Applying for a different region and choosing the centre of the exam are two completely different things and the examination centre does not have any effect on the place of posting.

Ques 12. Is there any restriction on the no. of attempts in IBPS PO?

Ans. No, there is no restriction on the number of attempts. If a candidate fulfills the eligibility criteria, he/she can apply.

Ans. No, in terms of cutoff and competition & Yes, in terms of the level of exam and questions.
