Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test Selection Procedure:-

The Kerala Teachers Eligibility Test is held in one stage:

  • Written test

Written Test:- It is an Online as well as Offline test. The total questions are 150 and the total marks are 150. The duration is 2 hours 30minutes for each part to complete the exam. The exam is Objective and Multiple Choice Type. There is no Negative Marking.

Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test Eligibility Criteria:

Age Limit: Maximum 33 years

Educational Qualification:

Senior Secondary examination with at least 50% marks. (45% for Reserved Category)

  • 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED)  Or

  • 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED). Or

  • Diploma in Special Education, recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India(RCI). Or

  • Graduation with 2-years Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED).

Ques 1. Does I edit my application form after the submission?

Ans. Yes, there is a provision of application correction.

Ques 2. I want to apply for Kerala TET. and I know about the age limit for applying?

Ans: Age limit to apply for Kerala TET:

  • General male and female- 35 years.

  • OBC male and female-38 years.

  • SC / ST male and female-42 years.

However, relaxation of 3 years is given to OBC applicants and 5 years to SC/ ST applicants.

Ques 3. Is a B.Com B.Ed applicants eligible for the Kerala TET?

Ans: If you have 4 years of Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED) degree than you are eligible for the exam.

Ques 4. I have complete a diploma in elementary education may I eligible for secondary teacher exam?

Ans: Yes you are eligible. The applicants who has Senior Secondary / Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum of 50% marks and has finished a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED) can apply.

Ques 5. Is there any relaxation in the qualifying marks for SC/ST?

Ans: Sc/ST/OBC/Differently Abled Category applicants have the advantage of 5% relaxation in marks.

Ques 6. If I clear the exam and still in my final year of Bachelor's Degree, am I eligible to apply?

Ans: Candidates who are appearing in the final year of Bachelor's Degree in Education or Diploma in Elementary Education etc. are temporarily admitted and their Kerala TET Certificate shall be confirmed only on passing the aforesaid Examinations.

Ques 7. I am from Goa, am I eligible to apply for the exam? 

Ans. No, only permanent residents from Kerala are eligible. 

Ques 8. Does a BCA student apply for Kerala TET?

Ans. No, besides graduation, the candidates must also have done B.Ed/B.El.Ed from a recognized university.

Ques 9. What are the minimum marks to qualify?

Ans. The criteria for considering pass in the exam as follows:

a) OC 60% Marks and above

b) BC 50% Marks and above

c) SC 40% Marks and above

d) ST 40% Marks and above

e) Differently-abled (PH) 40% Marks and above

Ques 10. What type of question can I expect in the Paper-II of the exam? 

Ans: The questions in the tests for Paper II will be based on the subjects of the prescribed syllabus of the Kerala State for classes VI to VIII but the difficulty standard could be up  to the senior secondary stage.
