Punjab Provincial Civil Services (PCS) exam is organized by the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) for the recruitment of eligible applicants for numerous posts in the Ministries and departments in Government of Punjab. Punjab Provincial Civil Services (Punjab PCS)  Selection Procedure:

The exam is conducted in two phases-

  • Preliminary Exam

  • Mains (Written & Interview)

Punjab Provincial Civil Services (Punjab PCS) Exam Pattern:

Preliminary Examination:- The preliminary examination is of qualifying nature and is conducted offline. The examination consists of two papers of a total duration of 2 hours each. The examination contain objective type questions. The examination pattern is as follows:-

Note:- There is no provision of negative marking. The question paper is bilingual i.e. Punjabi and English

Mains (Written & Interview):- The candidates who are shortlisted from the preliminary examination are allowed to sit for the mains examination. The PPSC Mains examination have papers of Descriptive nature. There are as many as 7 papers in the Mains Examination. The first 2 papers are of Punjabi and English (of 12th standard), the third paper is of essay and last four papers are in General Studies. The detail exam pattern is as follows:-

Interview:- The candidates who are shortlisted from the mains examinations are called for the interviews to judge their mental ability, decision making and their suitability for the service.

Final Selection:- The final selection of the candidate depends upon the comprehensive score of the candidate in the Mains examination (Written + Interview) out of 1500 marks.

Ques 3. Is there any provision of negative marking PCS Pre exam?

Ans.  NO provision of negative marking in Prelims exam. 

Ques 4. Can a candidate studying in final year of graduation apply for PCS?

Ans.YES. The minimum requirement is the candidate must have completed the Graduation.

Ques 5. Is there any other requirement regarding Punjabi language?

Ans. A candidate must have studied Punjabi in Matriculation as compulsory or elective or an equivalent exam.

Ques 6. Is there any provision of extra timing for Visually impaired candidates?

Ans. Yes, extra 30 minutes for each paper are given to such candidates.

Ques 7. Is there any Interview for PSC?

Ans. Yes, there is a provision of  Interview and it carries 150 marks.

Ans. Maximum 4 attempts are allowed from 21 to 30 years of age but SC/ST have no limits and can apply for the exam upto 35 years.
