The Staff Selection Commission - Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination is an examination organized by the SSC. The aim of this exam is to hire staffs for various posts of Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/ Postal Assistant (PA), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Sorting Assistant (SA), and Data Entry Operator (DEO) in various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India. Desiring applicants can apply for the exam online through the official website. The exam is organized yearly.
SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) Conducting Body :
The Staff Selection Commission hires staff in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate Offices. It is an organisation under the Government of India. Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam is held on a yearly basis by the SSC to hire eligible and aspiring applicants for the various posts.

Typing Test/ Skill Test (Tier-III) (Typing Test for LDC/ JSA & PA/ SA and Skill Test for DEO).
SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) Exam Pattern:
1.Computer- Based Examination (Tier- I): Computer Based Exam (Tier- I) exam is an MCQ based exam divided into four sections. The total time allotted for the exam is 75 minutes. :-

Note:-There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks from the total mark allotted to that question for each wrong answer.
2. Descriptive Paper(Tier-II):-
Candidates need to write essay/letters/ application writing etc. in either in Hindi or in English. The exam carries 100 marks and the duration of the exam is 1 hour. The topic for the essay is related to Finance & Economy, National Interest, Ecological Issues, Social Issues, Schemes & Governance, Politics, Sports, Technology, Environmental Concerns etc.
3. Typing Test/ Skill Test (Tier-III):-
Typing Test: If the candidate has opted for English, then he/she should possess a typing speed of 35 words per minute. If the candidate has opted for the Hindi language then he/ she shall possess a typing speed of 30 words per minute speed.
Note:-The typing test is applicable for the posts of Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, LDC and Court Clerk.
Skill Test: A minimum Data Entry Speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on computer/laptop.Note:- The skill test is applicable only for the Data Entry Operator post.

Ans. No. The medium given by the candidate in the online application form is treated as final and no change is entertained later.

Ans. The difficulty level of the exam is of 10+2 level.
