SSC (Staff Selection Commission) is an organisation under the Goverment of India which organizes exams for numerous posts. Stenographer examination is held for the employment of eligible and desiring applicants for stenographer posts in various government departments. Desiring applicants can apply for the exam online through the official website. This exam is a National level exam and is organized yearly.
SSC Stenographer (Grade C and Grade D) Conducting Body:
Staff Selection Commission hires staff in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate Offices. It is an organisation under the Government of India. Stenographer examination is held on a yearly basis by the SSC to hire aspiring applicants for various posts.

SSC Stenographer (Grade C and Grade D) Selection Procedure:
The applicants undergo two stages of the selection procedure, i.e. Paper-I and Paper-II.
Paper- I: Online examination consisting of Objective type multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and
Paper-II: Skill Test in Stenography.

Note:- There is a provision of negative marking. 0.25 marks gets deducted.. The total time duration is 2 hours for the examination .
Paper 2: The candidates who qualify the written test are called for Skill Test which comprises of one dictation of 10 minutes in English and Hindi both. This skill test is of qualifying nature only and different standards are set for different categories. For the post of Stenographer Grade C, dictation must be at the speed of 100 w.p.m. and for the post of Stenographer Grade D, dictation must be at the speed 80 w.p.m.
