Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test is organized by the Mother Teresa Women’s University. It is a state Nodal Agency of the UGC under the Government of Tamil Nadu. Mother Teresa Women's University is located in Kodaikanal,Tamil Nadu, India. Educational Qualifications:

Candidates who have secured at least 55% of marks (without rounding off) for General/ OBC (belonging to Creamy Layer) Category and 50% for OBC(belonging to Non Creamy Layer)/ Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Disability (PwD VI/HI/PH), in Master Degree or equivalent examination from Universities/Institutions recognized by UGC New Delhi, in subjects like Computer Science & Applications, Social Sciences, Sciences, Humanities (including languages), Electronic Sciences, Library & Information Science, are qualified to appear for this examination.

Applicants who have given or will be giving the Master Degree(final year) examination and whose result is still expected or applicants whose qualifying examinations have been held may also appear for this examination.

Ques 1. What is the upper age limit to apply for Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test?
Ans: There is no upper age limit for appearing at the SET.
Ques 2. Can Ph.D degree holder apply for TNSET and what are the eligibility criteria?
Ans: The Ph.D. Degree holders who have completed the Master's Degree on or before 19th September 1991 (irrespective of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% marks for appearing in TNSET-2019 examination.
Ques 3. I am not getting my Post Graduation subject in the list of TNSET subjects?
Ans: Applicants shall appear for TNSET examination in their appropriate subject of their Post Graduation only. In case the Applicant did not find the subject of their Post Graduation in the list of TNSET 2019 subjects, the Applicant may appear in UGC NET / UGC CSIR NET which is held twice a year.
Ques 4. What are the other eligibility criteria other than those mentioned above?
Ans: Applicants other than General Category are expected to declare their Social Status in the Online Application Form. Applicants may note that they should provide the eligibility requirements with reference to the documents such as PG degree mark statement, Community Certificate and Certificates related to PwD (VH/PH) uploaded with their applications. The Community Certificates presented by the applicants must be declared by the competent authority. In case any of the Certificates stated above is found to be void by the TNSET 2019 agency at any stage, their candidature will be removed and they shall be liable for legal action.
Applicants should note that their candidature is temporary. The mere fact that an admission card has been issued to a competitor will not imply that the TNSET 2019 Centre has allowed his/her candidature. Applicants may note that candidature will be deemed ultimate only upon confirmation of eligibility conditions.
Ques 5. I have 146 marks in commerce and I am from the SEBC category. Is there any chance to apply for TNSET exam?
Ans. No, OBC/ DT(VJ)/NT/SEBC/SBC/ [relating to non-creamy layer] and PH/VH/SC/ST/VH-Visually Handicapped i.e. Blind/Trans-genders(PH Physically Handicapped), Orphan category candidates who have obtained at least 50% marks (without gracing or rounding off) in Master or equivalent examination are suitable for this test.
Ques 6. What is the minimum percentage criteria for ST/SC applicants?
Ans: The minimum percentage for the reserved category such as SC/ST is 50%.
Ques 7. What are the eligibility criteria for the third gender candidate?
Ans: Applicant applying from the third gender in other words transgender category would be suitable to draw the same relaxation in fee, age and qualifying criteria for SET as are open for to SC/ST/PWD classification.
Ques 8. What is the valid period of the TNSET passing certificate?
Ans: The certificate is valid for Tamil Nadu state only and for all future times.
Ques 9. What is the size of the scanned photo, signature and other documents?
Ans: Applicant must upload a scanned photograph, signature, and caste/disability certificate if relevant in jpg/jpeg format only. The size of the photograph should be within 15 kb to 50 kb, Signature should be within 5 kb to 20 kb and certificates should be within 50kb to 200kb

Ans: The authority usually announces the result after one month of the examination.
