Eligbility
Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) Eligibility Criteria:

Only those applicants are qualified to appear in the GSET who have finished/are studying in the final year or semester of a UGC designated Master degree in a subject of GSET.

The candidates of other States, i.e. other than Gujarat State, specifically of reserved category shall be considered as General category candidates.

Applicants are required to appear for GSET in the subject of their Post Graduation only. In case the subject of an applicant is not incorporated in the list of GSET subjects, the aspirant may appear in UGC NET / UGC CSIR NET which is held twice a year.

The applicants must have a Master's Degree recognized by U.G.C., in a subject of GSET. The candidates having Post Graduate diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University/Institute or Foreign degree/diploma/ certificate awarded by the Foreign University / Institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence *of their diploma / degree / certificate, with Master degree of recognized Indian Universities from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi (www.aiu.ac.in) (* Such candidates who qualify SET will be expected to submit equivalence certificate from AIU, quickly after the result of the SET examination)

Applicants securing a minimum of 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master's Degree OR equivalent exam from universities/institutions recognized by UGC (on the website:https://www.ugc.ac.in in Sciences, Humanities (including languages) andComputer Science & Applications, Social Science, are qualified for GSET Examination. The Culturally and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC) belonging to Non Creamy Layer / Scheduled Tribe (ST) / Scheduled Caste (SC) / VH - Visually Handicapped / PwD (PH - Physically Handicapped) category applicants who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master degree or equivalent examination are eligible for GSET Examination.

Applicants who have given OR will be giving the final year/semester at the qualifying Master degree exam and whose resultis yet to come OR applicants whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for GSET Examination. Nonetheless, such applicants will be allowed temporarily and shall be considered qualified for eligibility of Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master degree examination or equivalent with not less than 55% marks (50% marks in case of Culturally and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC) belonging to non creamy layer PwD(PH/VH)/ SC/ST/ category candidates). Such applicants need to complete their Master's degree examination within two years from the date of confirmation of the result of GSET Examination with requisite percentage of marks, failing which they will be considered as disqualified.

Applicants belonging to the third gender or transgender are eligible to draw the same relaxation in fee and passing criteria for GSET as are available to (SC/ST/PwD(PH/VH) categories. The subject wise cut offs for this section should be the minimum among those for PwD(PH/VH)/SC/ST/SEBC NCL sections in a similar subject.

The Ph.D. applicants whose Master level exam had been finished by 19th September 1991 (regardless of the date of announcement of result) shall be acceptable for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in the GSET Examination.

The Reservation policy for GSET exam is according to the Gujarat Government. Central Government OBC certificate is not admissible from the applicants belonging to SEBC of Gujarat State.

Applicants are not obligated to send any certificate/documents in support of their acceptability or printout of their ApplicationForm to Gujarat State Eligibility Test office, Vadodara. Nevertheless the candidates, in their interest, must convince themselves about their qualification for GSET Examination. IIn case of any ineligibility being discovered by GSET / UGC at any stage, their candidature will be dropped, the GSET certificate will be withdrawn and they shall be liable for legal action.

Candidates belonging to SC / ST / PwD(PH/VH) / SEBC (Cast Certificate along with the latest Non - Creamy Layer certificate) category must possess the Valid Category Certificate issued by the competent authority of Gujarat state and certificates related to PwD(PH/VH). Hence, the candidates, in their interest, must satisfy themselves about their acceptability for GSET Examination. In case of any ineligibility being discovered by GSET / UGC at any step, their candidature will be eliminated, GSET certificate will be revoked and they are likely for legal action.

Candidates should note that their candidature is provisional. It doesn't imply that the Online Application Form and Examination Fee accepted and Hall Ticket allotted to an applicant, that the GSET Agency has accepted his / her candidature. Their candidature will be considered irrevocable only upon affirmation of qualification conditions concerning the claims made in their application, after the result of GSET Examination. In case an applicant is found unsuitable at any stage for the award due to any reason (including unintentional computer error or printer devil etc.), he/she will be declared as not-qualified in GSET Examination and GSET certificate will be withdrawn.
Age Limit: There is no upper age limit.
