Overview
The Himachal Pradesh State Eligibility Test (SET) exam is organized the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission. The exam is held with the purpose for the employment of interested and eligible applicants for the posts of Assistant Professor (s) in universities and colleges situated inside the State of Himachal Pradesh.
Himachal Pradesh State Eligibility Test Conducting Body:
The State Level Eligibility Test is held in English in all states in India and some universities also. States opt to conduct their own test i.e.State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) for lectureship only. Candidates who qualify in the examination are qualified to apply for the post of lecturer within the jurisdiction of the Member-States of this SLET Commission.

Himachal Pradesh State Eligibility Test Selection Procedure

The applicant’s Selection process will be done based on the performance in the HP SET conducted by Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission.

Candidates will be shortlisted based on marks scored in the Entrance Exam.

Himachal Pradesh State Eligibility Test Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification:

Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks in Master's Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications. are eligible for this Test. The Scheduled Caste (SC) of H.P. /Scheduled Tribe (ST) of H.P. / candidates falling in the category of Other Backward Classes ( Persons with Disability (PWD) and Non- creamy layer of H.P.) of H.P. category applicants of H.P. who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master Degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this test only.

Candidates who have given or will be giving the eligibility Master Degree (final year) exam and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test. Nonetheless, such applicants will be accepted conditionally and shall be deemed qualified for the post of Assistant Professor in the Universities/Colleges situated in the State, only after they have passed their Master Degree examination or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST/OBC (Non- creamy layer /PWD (Persons with disability) category candidates of H.P.). Such candidates must complete their P.G. degree examination within two years from the date of SET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

The Ph.D. aspirants who has finished their Master level exam by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of the date of announcement of result) shall be qualified for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.

Candidates are suggested to appear in the subject of their post graduation only. In case the subject of an applicant is not covered in the list of SET subjects, the applicant may appear in UGC NET/UGC CSIR NET which is held twice a year. (for example, the applicants having post graduation degree in Acharya (Traditional Sanskrit) are not qualified to give Sanskrit subject ).

Concession of Fee is only for SC of H.P. /ST of H.P. /OBC of H.P. (Non creamy layer) / PWD (General PWD, S.C. PWD, S.T. PWD, OBC PWD) & BPL candidates of Himachal Pradesh. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non creamy layer) /PWD (General PWD, S.C. PWD, S.T. PWD & OBC PWD) category must ensure that their certificate of the respective category is on parental lineage issued by the competent authority. The candidates are neither required to send any certificates/documents in support of their eligibility nor printout of Application Form to Commission. However, the applicants, in their own interest, must ensure/satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the test. In case of any incorrect information provided on online applications or any ineligibility being identified by the Commission at any level, their candidature shall be canceled and they shall be liable for legal action.

Applicants having postgraduate diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University / Institute or foreign Degree/certificate awarded by the Foreign University/ Institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with Master Degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. Ans: There is no negative marking.
Ques 2. What is the minimum percentage criteria for SC/ST applicants?
Ans: The minimum percentage for the reserved category such as SC/ST is 50%.

The application form can be filled in Online mode only. Candidates desirous to apply for the test can apply in Online mode from the official website. Following are the steps to apply that must be followed while filling the form:

Registration: Candidates are required to visit the website and register themselves for the test. In this process, some basic information are asked. After providing this information candidates must click on the Register button.

Verification: Once the registration button is clicked, an email is sent on the provided i.d to verify. The registration process is completed only after verification.

Himachal Pradesh State Eligibility Test Admit Card:
The HP SET releases the admit cards for the exam in Online mode. The link of the admit cards are sent to the registered emails and mobile numbers of the candidates. The admit card is a mandatory document for the test and the candidate must carry it to the exam center along with an I.D proof such as Driving License, Voter Card, PAN Card, Aadhar Card.
