Maharashtra Provincial Civil Services (MPCS) exam is organized by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). The aim of this exam is to recruit eligible applicants for numerous posts in the Ministries and departments in the Government of Maharashtra. Maharashtra Provincial Civil Services (MPCS) Selection procedure:

The exam is held in three phases-

  • Preliminary Exam

  • Mains Exam

  • Interview

Maharashtra Provincial Civil Services (MPCS)  Exam Pattern:- 

Preliminary Exam:- The preliminary examination is of qualifying nature and is held offline. The preliminary examination consists of Objective type questions. The medium of instructions of the examination is in Marathi and English language.

Mains Exam:- The applicants who are shortlisted from the preliminary examination are allowed to sit for the mains examination.

Note:

  • The MPSC Mains examination is of descriptive nature.

  • There are 6 papers in the Mains Examination.

  • The first 4 papers are of General Studies and the last two are of Compulsory Marathi and compulsory English respectively.

  • The third paper consists of questions on which candidates write essays.

  • The last three papers have questions from general studies. The exam pattern is as follows:-

Ques 3. What is the selection procedure for the exam?
Ans. The exam is held through  the following procedure:
  • Preliminary Exam which is Objective type.

Ans. The admit card is released a week prior to the exam.

Ans. The size of the scanned photograph and signature should not be more than 50 kb each.

Ques 8.  Is there any negative marking in the exam?

Ans. Yes, there is a provision of negative marking for Paper I. 1/4th of the total mark should be deducted.

Ans. By online through Credit/ Debit card, Net banking and offline through Maha e- Seva Kendra and e-Challan.

Ques 10. What is the educational qualification for  MPSC exam?

Ans. Following is the required qualification:

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university/ institution.

  • Minimum 3 years diploma in any stream.

Ques 11. Which candidates can avail the reservation benefits?

Ans. Only those candidates who are domiciled permanently in Maharashtra state can avail reservation benefits.
