Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test is organized by the state government of Maharashtra. Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test Selection Procedure:

Candidates will be shortlisted from the score secured in the Maharashtra TET 2019. The merit list is prepared based on the wise cut off marks.Multiple choice type questions are asked in the exam. Each question is for one mark and there is no negative marking. There are two papers in the exam i.e. Paper I and Paper II in which 150 questions are asked. Applicants have to complete the exam in 1 and a half hours.

Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:

The candidates should pass the upper Secondary examination with at least 50 marks.

The relaxation of 45 marks if the applicants belong to a reserved class.

1.  Senior Secondary/Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum 50% score and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED)

OR

2.Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum 50% result and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED).

OR

3. Senior Secondary /Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum 50% score and having a Diploma in Education (Special Education), approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India(RCI).

OR

4. 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED) or Graduation. 

Age Criteria: Applicants should be at least 18 to a maximum of 30 years.

Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test Syllabus:

Child Development Pedagogy: Child Development (Primary School Children): Understanding Children with the special needs, Concept of Inclusive Education and Learning Pedagogy

Mathematics: Numbers, Algebra, Mensuration, Geometry, Arithmetic, Shapes and Spatial Understanding

Language I: Perception-based questions and ideas for language development

Language II (English): Understanding based question in English and advancement of language

Social Sciences/Social Studies:Political Life Geography,  History and social etc

Environmental Studies: Water, Natural resources,Habitats Solar System, Air, Parts of Body, Food Resource and Care, Our Surroundings

  • Only objective type questions are asked.

  • Total no of questions would be 150.

  • Question paper carries 150 marks.

  • Time Duration would be of 90 min

  • No negative marking

Ques 1. I am from Goa, am I eligible to apply for Maharashtra TET? 

Ans. No, only permanent residents from Maharashtra are eligible to appear for TET. 

Ques 2. Is there any relaxation in the qualifying marks for ST/SC?

Ans: Sc/ST/OBC/Differently Abled Category candidates have the advantage of 5% relaxation in marks.

Ques 3. I have done a diploma in elementary education may I eligible for secondary teacher exam?

Ans: Yes you are eligible. The applicants who has Senior Secondary / Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum of 50% marks and has finished a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED) can apply.

Ques 4. If I clear Maharashtra TET and still in my final year of Bachelor's Degree, am I eligible to apply? 

Ans: Candidates who are appearing in the final year of Bachelor's Degree in Education or Diploma in Elementary Education etc. are temporarily admitted and their Maharashtra TET Certificate shall be confirmed only on passing the aforesaid Examinations.

Ques 5. Can I edit my application form after the submission?

Ans. Yes, there is a provision of application correction which is notified through a circular. The date and time completely depend on the official authority who conducts the exam.

Ques 6. What are the minimum marks to qualify?

AnsThe criteria for considering pass in Maharashtra TET is as follows:

a) OC 60% Marks and above

b) BC 50% Marks and above

c) SC 40% Marks and above

d) ST 40% Marks and above

e) Differently-abled (PH) 40% Marks and above

Ques 7. Is a B.Com B.Ed student eligible for the Maharashtra TET?

Ans: If you have 4 years of Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED) degree than you are eligible for Maharashtra TET.

Ques 8. I want to apply for Maharashtra TET. So, I need to know about the age limit for applying?

Ans: Age limit to apply for Maharashtra TET:

  • General male and female- 35 years.

  • OBC male and female-38 years.

  • SC / ST male and female-42 years.

However, relaxation of 3 years is given to OBC candidates and 5 years to SC/ ST candidates.

Ques 9. Can a BCA student apply for Maharashtra TET?

Ans. No, besides graduation, the applicant must also have done B.Ed/B.El.Ed from a recognized university.

Ques 10. What type of question can I expect in the Paper-II of the Maharashtra TET exam? 

Ans: The questions in the tests for Paper II will be based on the subjects of the prescribed syllabus of the Maharashtra State for classes VI to VIII but the difficulty standard could be  up to the senior secondary stage.
