Overview
National Talent Search Examination or NTSE is a national level scholarship test organized by the National Council of Educational Research and Training.It is for the students who want to pursue their education in Social Studies & Science streams up to doctoral level, and also in Engineering and Medicine for professional courses up to the second degree level. It consists of two levels annually i.e. a) NTSE Stage 1 at State level and b)NTSE Stage 2 at the National level.
National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) Conducting Body:
National Council of Educational Research and Training or NCERT conducts the National Talent Search Examination Stage 2 which is of National level whereas the Stage 1 which is of State level is conducted by respective UTs/States for deserving candidates from across the nation who wishes to pursue their dreams of higher education. The examination is conducted in Offline mode.

The examination is divided into two stages namely Stage 1 and Stage 2. Both stages comprise the following tests:

STAGE 1: The examination is conducted in Offline (pen paper based) mode. The time duration is 120 minutes (150 minutes for Visually Impaired students). The questions are Objective type and the exam is conducted in English, Hindi and any other regional languages (option must be selected at the time of enrollment). The examination is based on the syllabus in the 9th and 10th class. The detailed exam pattern is as follows:-

Candidates studying from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Sainik Schools are also eligible to apply.

Candidates studying through Open Schooling System (National Institute of Open Schooling) are also eligible to apply provided they must be appearing in 10th exam for the 1st time and must not be employed.

Ques 1. How can a candidate apply for the NTSE?
Ans. A candidate can apply Offline as well as Online for the exam. The application form can be downloaded from the official website or can be obtained from the school or the state liaison officer.
Ques 2. Is it necessary to fill the application form separately for the stages?
Ans. Since NTSE is a one-step application submission process, there is no need to apply for the stage 2 exam separately.
Ques 3. Can a candidate edit the application form after submission?
Ans. No, it can't be done once the form is submitted and the application fee is paid.
