Overview
Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (Punjab TET) is organized by the State Council of Educational Research and Training, Punjab (SCERT, Punjab). It is a state level test. The exam is held with an aim for the employment of eligible aspirants for the posts of teacher in Punjab State. Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (Punjab TET) Conducting Body:
State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Delhi is a self governing body of the Government of Punjab. It is a nodal agency approved by the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) for curriculum construction, admission, examination, course conduct, guidance and certification of the pre service education programme in the area of pre primary teachers training and elementary training.

Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (Punjab TET) Selection Procedure:
Punjab TET is supervised in 3 major categories and details of these categories are as given:
Category 1:

It is conducted in terms of monitoring the qualification level of all candidates.

They are selected at lower primary level teaching jobs.

Teachers are assigned classes from 1st to 5th by valid scores.
Category 2:

It is conducted for all applicants and after that, they are designated as Upper Primary level teachers.

After passing this exam, applicants are designated as teachers and they can teach classes from 6 to 8.
Category 3:
-
Candidates who cleared this category exam are designated as teachers in all recognized schools under the state government of Punjab.

Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (Punjab TET) Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
The applicants should pass the upper Secondary examination with a minimum of 50 marks.
It is a relaxation of 45 marks if the applicants belong to a reserved class.
1.Senior Secondary / Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum of 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED)
OR
2.Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum of 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED).
OR
3. Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum of 50% marks and holding Diploma in Education (Special Education), recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India(RCI).
OR
4. 2year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED) and Graduation.
Age Limit:
Age should not be higher than 35 years.
Relaxation of age by 5 years for those who fall in the SC/ST/PD categories,
Relaxation of age by 3 years for those who fall OBC categories.

Child Development Pedagogy: Child Development (Primary School Children): Understanding Children with the special needs, Concept of Inclusive Education and Learning Pedagogy
Mathematics: Shapes, Algebra, Mensuration, Geometry, Arithmetic, Numbers and Spatial Understanding
Language I (Punjabi): Perception-based questions and ideas for language development
Language II (English): Understanding based question in English and advancement of language
Social Sciences/Social Studies: History, Social and Political Life Geography, etc
Environmental Studies: Water, Habitats, Natural Resources, Solar System, Air, Parts of Body, Food Resource and Care, Our Surroundings
Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (Punjab TET) FAQs:
Ques 1. Is there any relaxation in the qualifying marks for ST/SC?
Ans: SC/ST/OBC/Differently Abled Category candidates have the advantage of 5% relaxation in marks.
Ques 2. What is the minimum score to qualify the Punjab TET exam?
Ans: Applicants need to score a minimum of 60% marks in Punjab TET to qualify in the examination.
Ques 3. Is a B.Com B.Ed student eligible for the Punjab TET?
Ans: If you have 4 years of Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED) degree than you are eligible for Punjab TET.
Ques 4. I have done a diploma in elementary education may I eligible for secondary teacher exam?
Ans: Yes you are eligible. The candidate who has Senior Secondary / Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum of 50% marks and has finished a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED) can apply.
Ques 5. What is the validity period of the Punjab TET passing certificate?
Ans: The validity period of PSTET qualifying certificate is seven years for all the categories.
Ques 6. What is the number of attempts I can appear for the PSTET exam?
Ans: There is no limitation on the number of trials a person can take to pass Punjab TET. A person who has qualified PTET may also reappear for improving his/her score.

Ques 8. I want to apply for Punjab TET. So, I need to know about the age limit for applying?
Ans: Age limit to apply for Punjab TET:

General male and female- 35 years.

OBC male and female-38 years.

SC / ST male and female-42 years.
However, relaxation of 3 years is given to OBC applicants and 5 years to SC/ ST applicants.
Ques 9. If I clear PSTET and still in my final year of Bachelor's Degree, am I eligible to apply?
Ans:Candidates who are appearing in the final year of Bachelor Degree in Education or Diploma in Elementary Education etc. are temporarily admitted and their PSTET Certificate shall be confirmed only on passing the aforesaid Examinations.
Ques 10. What type of question can I expect in the Paper-II of the PSTET exam?
Ans: The questions in the tests for Paper II will be based on the subjects of the prescribed syllabus of the Punjab State for classes VI to VIII but the difficulty standard could be up to the senior secondary stage.
