West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test is organized by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education. It is a state level exam and is held yearly. The purpose of this exam is to hire eligible and aspiring applicants for the posts of teacher for primary and upper primary levels. Eligible and desiring applicants can make their careers in the Teaching Department in schools of West Bengal by qualifying in the exam.

The West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test is held in two-stage:

• Written test

• Interview

West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test Exam Pattern:

Written Test:- It is an Offline test. The total questions are 150 and the total marks are 150. The duration is 90 minutes for each part to complete the exam. The exam is Objective and  Multiple Choice Type. There is no Negative Marking.

Paper pattern for Paper-I (For students who wants to teach from class I to V):-

Interview:- The candidates who qualify the online examination are called for the Interview.

Age Limit: 18 - 35 years.

Educational Qualification:

For students who want to teach from class I to V:

• Upper Secondary examination with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for Reserved Category)

• Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with at least 50% marks

• 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED) Or

• Senior Secondary/ Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED) Or

• Senior Secondary/ Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and Diploma in Special Education, recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India(RCI) Or

• Graduation and Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED).

For Primary Teachers Class VI to VII:

• Cleared their B.Sc/B.A or equivalent education

• Cleared their B.Ed/Secondary education exam with minimum 50% marks

• Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed)

• BSc/ BA/ Diploma with at least 45% marks.

Ques 1. If I clear West Bengal TET and still in my final year of Bachelor's Degree, am I eligible to apply? 

Ans: Applicants who are appearing in the final year of Bachelor's Degree in Education or Diploma in Elementary Education etc. are temporarily admitted and their West BengalTET Certificate shall be confirmed only on passing the aforesaid Examinations.

Ques 2. Is there any relaxation in the qualifying marks for ST/SC?

Ans: Sc/ST/OBC/Differently Abled Category applicants have the advantage of 5% relaxation in marks.

The application form can be filled in Online mode only. Candidates desirous to apply for the test can apply in Online mode from the official website. Following are the steps to apply that must be followed while filling the form:

• Registration: Candidates are required to visit the website and register themselves for the test. In this process, some basic information are asked. After providing this information candidates must click on the Register button.

• Verification: Once the registration button is clicked, an email is sent on the provided i.d to verify. The registration process is completed only after verification.

• Application Form Filling: After verification, Candidates can fill the application form through their provided LoginI.d and Password. 

• Uploading Documents: In this step, candidates are asked to upload the scanned copies of their documents. The candidates must submit all the required documents.

• Payment of application fee: The last step is the payment and to apply successfully candidates must make the payment. The payment can be made in online mode.

West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test Admit Card

The WBTET releases the admit cards for the exam in Online mode. The link of the admit cards are sent to the registered emails and mobile numbers of the candidates. The admit card is a mandatory document for the test and the candidate must carry it to the exam center along with an I.D proof such as Driving License, Voter Card, PAN Card, Aadhar Card.
