Karnataka Teachers Eligibility Test is organized by the Centralized Admission Cell, Bengaluru. Karnataka Teachers Eligibility Test Selection Procedure:-

The Karnataka Teachers Eligibility Test is conducted in one stage:

  • Written test

Written Test:- It is an Online as well as Offline test. The total questions are 150 and the total marks are 150. The duration is  2 hours 30 minutes for each part to complete the exam. The exam is Objective and Multiple Choice Type. There is no Negative Marking.

Karnataka Teachers Eligibility Test Eligibility Criteria:

Age: Candidate's age must be between 18 to 40 years.

Educational Qualification:

  • Secondary examination with a minimum of 50% marks. (Relaxation of 45% for Reserved category).

  • Senior/Higher Secondary or it's equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks and 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED)  Or

  • Senior/Higher Secondary or it's equivalent with at least 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED).  Or

  • Senior/Higher Secondary with at least 50% marks and Diploma in Education (Special Education), recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India.  Or

  • Graduation plus two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED).

Karnataka Teachers Eligibility Test FAQs:

Ques 1. I want to apply for Karnataka TET. So, I need to know about the age limit for apply?

Ans: Age limit to apply for Karnataka TET:

  • General male and female- 35 years.

  • OBC male and female-38 years.

  • SC / ST male and female-42 years.

However, relaxation of 3 years is given to OBC candidates and 5 years to SC/ ST candidates.

Ques 2. I have done a diploma in elementary education may I eligible for secondary teacher exam?

Ans: Yes you are eligible. The candidate who has Senior Secondary / Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum of 50% marks and has finished a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED) can apply.

Ques 3. Is a B.Com B.Ed student eligible for the Karnataka TET?

Ans: If you have 4 years of Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED) degree than you are eligible for Karnataka TET.

Ques 4. Does I edit my application form after the submission?

Ans. Yes, there is a provision of application correction. 

Ques 5. Is there any relaxation in the qualifying marks for ST/SC?

Ans: Sc/ST/OBC/Differently Abled Category applicants have the advantage of 5% relaxation in marks.

Ques 6. What type of question can I expect in the Paper-II of the Karnataka TET exam? 

Ans: The questions in the tests for Paper II will be based on the subjects of the prescribed syllabus of the Karnataka State for classes VI-VIII but the difficulty standard could be up to the senior secondary stage.

Ques 7. If I clear Karnataka TET and still in my final year of Bachelor's Degree, am I eligible to apply? 

Ans:Candidates who are appearing in the final year of Bachelor's Degree in Education or Diploma in Elementary Education etc. are temporarily admitted and their Karnataka TET Certificate shall be confirmed only on passing the aforesaid Examinations.

Ques 8. I am from Goa, am I eligible to apply for Karnataka  TET? 

Ans. No, only permanent residents from Karnataka are eligible to appear for TET. 

Ques 9. What are the minimum marks to qualify?

Ans. The criteria for considering pass in Karnataka TET is as follows:

a) OC 60% Marks and above

b) BC 50% Marks and above

c) SC 40% Marks and above

d) ST 40% Marks and above

e) Differently-abled (PH) 40% Marks and above

Ques 10. Does a BCA student apply for Karnataka TET?

Ans. No, besides graduation, the candidates must also have done B.Ed/B.El.Ed from a recognized university.
