Overview

Kashmir Administrative Exam (KAS) or Combined Competitive Exam is organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC). The exam is held for the recruitment of eligible and desiring applicants for numerous posts in the Ministries and departments in Governmentof Jammu and Kashmir. The exam is organized yearly. This exam is state level exam and is held in offline mode.

The Kashmir Public Service Commission is authorised to conduct the Civil Services Examination for entry level appointments to the various Civil Services of Kashmir. Kashmir PSC organizes the Civil Services Exam yearly for aspiring applicants.

The exam is held in Three phases

  • Preliminary Exam

  • Mains Exam

  • Interview

Kashmir Administrative Exam (KAS) Combined Competitive Exam -Exam Pattern:

Preliminary Examination:- The preliminary examination is of Qualifying nature and is held Offline. The examination consists of two papers of Objective nature. The applicants needs to select one optional subject from the list of the optional subject provided below.

Interview:- The candidates who are shortlisted from the Mains examinations are called for the Interview ( 250 marks ). The Interview is conducted with the aim to access the awareness, intelligence, problem-solving ability and the suitability of the candidate towards the services.

  • Educational Qualification:- Graduation or equivalent.

Ques 7. How many papers are there in KAS Mains?

Ans. There are total 8 papers out of which 1 is of English language, 1 is of English essay, 2 are General study papers and 4 are Optional papers. Paper 1 (English language) is of qualifying nature and the marks obtained in the paper are not considered for merit.

Ques 8. What is the requirement regarding Optional subjects?

Ans. The requirement is to choose 2 optional subjects for 4 optional papers.

 Ques 9. How many times a candidate can attempt for KAS?

Ans. For General candidates there are 4 attempts but there is no limit for Reserved category.

Ans. Yes, all papers in Mains exam are Descriptive.

Ans. The Mains and the Interview marks are considered for merit. Preliminary exam is just a screening test.
