Selection is based on the performance of the candidates in the Kerala State Eligibility Test. Applicants are selected based on marks scored in the Entrance Exam.

Kerala State Eligibility Test Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification:

Those who have acquired a Master's Degree in the subjects concerned with not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade and B.Ed. degree in any stream from one of the universities in Kerala or have gained these qualifications from any other university recognized as equivalent thereto are eligible to apply for the SET February - 2019 with certain exceptions as mentioned in the following paragraphs.

For Physics, Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Zoology, those holding MSc.Ed Degree in the specific subjects with not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade from any one of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by the NCERT is eligible to apply. For subjects like Zoology and Botany, applicants having MSc.Ed Degree in Life Science (with a minimum 50% marks or equivalent grade) from any one of the Regional Institutes of Education are also eligible.

For the subjects, Commerce, French, German, Geology, Home Science, Journalism, Latin, Music, Philosophy, Psychology,Russian, Social Work, Sociology, Statistics, and Syriac candidates need not acquire B.Ed. Degree for applying for the StateEligibility Test.

Those who have acquired II class Master Degree in Communicative English with not less than 50% marks and BEd. are eligible to appear for SET in English.

Candidates who have acquired DLEd/LTTC in Arabic, Urdu, and Hindi but do not have B. Ed Degree are eligible.

Candidates who have acquired B.Ed Degree in Hindi conducted by the Dakshin Bharatha Hindi Prachar Sabha are exempted from the requirement of producing the equivalency certificate, as the degree has been recognized by the Universities in Kerala.

Applicants who have obtained their qualification through distance Courses/Open Universities which are not approved by any of the Universities in Kerala are not qualified to appear for the SET. Candidates who have acquired their qualifications through recognized correspondence courses/Open universities and candidates acquired their qualification from a university outside Kerala should obtain and provide equivalent certificates of recognition from any of the Universities in Kerala.

Candidates possessing a qualification in the subjects other than those mentioned in clause 2.2 should furnish an equivalency and eligibility certificate obtained from any one of the universities in Kerala.

Applicants who have obtained their Master's Degree with the least required marks for qualifying to appear for SET and are undergoing the final year courses for B.Ed Degree are eligible to appear for the test.

Likewise, applicants who have received their B.Ed Degree and are pursuing the final year courses of their Post Graduate Programme are also qualified to appear for the test. Such applicants must provide the Certificates of their qualifying exam passed with the least required marks within one year from the date of announcement of the results of the State Eligibility Test, missing which they are liable to be disqualified.

Relaxation of Minimum marks for SC/ST Candidates Candidates belonging to SC/ST categories shall be granted a relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum marks prescribed for eligibility to appear for the State Eligibility Test.

For the subject Latin, candidates who have passed their degree examination in any discipline from any one of the Universities in Kerala or from any other University recognized as equivalent thereto with Latin as their Second Language under Part II with not less than 50% marks for that Part II are also eligible to appear for SET, provided such candidates have acquired IIClass Master Degree with not less than 50% marks in any discipline.
Age Limit: No upper age limit.

Ques 1. What are the eligibility criteria for the third gender applicants?
Ans: Applicant applying from the third gender in other words transgender category would be suitable to draw the same relaxation in fee, age and qualifying criteria for SET as are open for to SC/ST/PWD classification.
Ques 2. What 's the procedure to change my exam center?
Ans: Kerala SET subject and Exam Center once submitted cannot be changed.
Ques 3. Is there any mark relaxation for Ph.D. degree holders?
Ans: Candidate with a Ph.D. degree and who have completed their Post Graduation before September 1992 are suitable for the relaxation of 5% in minimum mark limit. They should have a minimum of 50% in place of 55% marks.
Ques 4. What are the minimum qualifying marks required for the exam?
Ans: The qualifying marks for Kerala SET 2019 is 40% (General Category) and 35% (Reserved Category)
Ques 5. Is there any negative marking in the exam?
Ans: Each question carries 2 marks. For every correct answer, you can score 2 marks and there is no negative marking.
Ques6. How many times can I apply for the exam?
Ans: Applicants can apply as many times they want. No limit to the number of trials.

Ans: Applicant must upload a scanned photograph, signature, and caste/disability certificate if relevant in jpg/jpeg format only. The size of the photograph should be within 15 kb to 50 kb, Signature should be within 5 kb to 20 kb and certificates should be within 50kb to 200kb
