Overview
The ACT or American College Testing is a test performed by an organization bearing the same name which is ACT Inc. The ACT is held for students seeking admission to undergraduate courses in the universities and colleges of the United States of America. The ACT test covers five subjects namely English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and Writing where writing is optional. The most important thing is that ACT scores remain valid for the coming five years and therefore students can take this test whenever they feel comfortable, irrespective of the grades they are studying into. However, students who are in 10+1 grade or are in 10+2 grade take this test. The ACT syllabus is designed on the basis of the high school curriculum.
Conducting Body: Established in 1959, ACT Inc. is a non-profit organization of the same name. ACT Inc. held the ACT Tests which test and capability to complete college and high school students' general educational development level work with the tests covering four skill areas: mathematics, reading, English, and science. The tests are multiple-choice. The optional Writing Test measures skill in writing and planning a short essay.

Selection Procedure: There are two types of ACT examinations:
-
ACT (No Writing) Test
-
ACT plus Writing Test
- ACT (No Writing) Test: This test includes four parts i.e. Mathematics, Reading, English, and Science.
- ACT plus Writing Test: This test includes five parts i.e. Reading, Science, English, Mathematics, with an optional Writing Test.
Exam Pattern: ACT Test consists of four main sections and another optional writing section. in four sections consist of 215 objective type questions. There are two formats of the ACT test, one is without the writing section and the other one in the writing section. The candidates may opt to take any one of these two formats of the ACT test. The total duration is 02 hours and 55 minutes and it is 3 hours 25 minutes for the ACT plus Writing Test.

Ans. The score ranges between 1 and 36 for each section. The final ACT score is a composite ACT score calculated as the average of scaled scores of all four sections.

Ans. There is no negative marking in this test and every question is in 1 mark.
Ques 6. Is Calculator allowed?
Ans. Yes, calculators are allowed in the Maths section only.

Ans. Essays are scored between 1 and 6 by two readers where six is the highest mark.
