In a bid to foster academic exchanges and cultural relations between India and the United Kingdom, the British Council has announced the launch of the GREAT Scholarships 2024 program. This initiative opens avenues for Indian students to pursue postgraduate studies in various fields across UK universities starting in the autumn of 2024. The scholarships, valued at a total of Rs 10.41 lakh, are part of a collaboration with the UK government’s prestigious GREAT Britain campaign.

As the UK's premier international organization dedicated to educational opportunities and cultural relations, the British Council aims to facilitate access to quality education for Indian scholars. This year, a cohort of 25 esteemed UK universities will extend 26 postgraduate GREAT scholarships to Indian students, covering a vast spectrum of disciplines, including Design, Finance, Marketing, Business, Psychology, Humanities, Dance, etc.

Each GREAT scholarship is valued at a minimum of £10,000 and will be disbursed towards tuition fees for a one-year postgraduate course during the academic year 2024-25, as confirmed by an official statement from the British Council.

Furthermore, the program includes two additional scholarships tailored for Indian students seeking to delve into Justice and Law studies in collaboration with the Ministry for Justice. These scholarships are available at select higher education institutions and cater to students interested in diverse fields such as human rights, property law, criminal justice, and commercial law.

In an effort to bolster scientific and technological innovation, four scholarships are also earmarked for Indian students pursuing courses in Science and Technology at leading UK universities. Prospective scholars can explore subjects including artificial intelligence, sustainable engineering, and psychology, among others, across participating institutions.

Eligible candidates intending to apply for these prestigious scholarships must have received an offer of admission from one of the participating universities and must fulfill all stipulated entry requirements for their chosen courses.

The announcement of the GREAT Scholarships 2024 program underscores the commitment of the British Council and its partners to promote educational excellence and facilitate international academic collaborations, enriching the academic landscape for Indian scholars seeking to pursue higher education opportunities abroad.
