Today, February 14, 2024, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has initiated the registration process for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024 on the official website. Interested and eligible candidates can check the notification and register by visiting the official website upsc.gov.in. Candidates must note that the registration last date for UPSC CSE is March 5, 2024.

Moreover, candidates will have the opportunity to make corrections to their applications during the window period from March 6 to March 12, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria and Age Limit

According to the official notification, candidates must hold a graduate degree from a recognized university or educational institution incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India. Alternatively, candidates may possess an equivalent qualification recognized under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.

In terms of age requirements, candidates must be between 21 and 32 years old as of August 1, 2024. This means that candidates should have been born between August 2, 1992, and August 1, 2003, to be eligible for participation in the examination.

Number of Vacancies

This year's Civil Services Examination presents a total of 1,056 vacancies, offering a significant opportunity for aspirants to embark on a rewarding career path in public service. Additionally, the notification also includes the announcement of 150 vacancies for the Indian Forest Services.

Examination Structure

The Civil Services Examination consists of two distinct stages:

• Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination: This stage involves an objective-type examination designed to shortlist candidates for the subsequent stage.


• Civil Services (Main) Examination: Successful candidates from the preliminary stage will progress to the main examination, which comprises a written examination followed by an interview or personality test.
