Overview
BHU PMT is the Pre-Medical Test mostly known as the All India Level Medical Entrance Exam which is conducted every year for seeking admissions in Medical Courses. This Entrance Test is administered by Banaras Hindu University.
Conducting Body: Banaras Hindu University is a public central university which is established in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It was founded in 1916 by Madan Mohan Malaviya and Annie Besant. With over 30,000 pupils residing on campus, it claims the title of the largest residential university in Asia. BHU is organised into 6 institutes and 14 faculties (streams) and about 140 branches.

Selection Process:
The BHU PMT selection process is performed only through the scores in the written examination. The scores of the applicants are compared as per cut off and then the merit list is generated. As per the merit list, the seats are assigned to the deserving applicants.
Exam Pattern:
The Exam will be conducted in two stages i.e. Preliminary or Screening and Mains.

The preliminary exam is for 200 questions.

The Mains Exam contains 100 questions.

The Duration of the Exam is for 3 hours.

2 marks will be given for the right answer.

For wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted.
Eligibility Criteria:
Age Limit: The age limit should be between 17-25 years.
Educational Qualification:

Candidates should have completed 10+2 or it's equivalent from any recognized Board.
Qualifying Marks:

For MBBS, BDS, BAMS courses, candidates should have a minimum of 50% marks.

For B.Pharma course, the minimum marks required for categories is General/OBC Category – 60% and SC/ST/PWD Category – 55%.
Syllabus/Subjects:
The prescribed syllabus for the candidates applying for the BHU Pre Medical Test 2018 is as same as the syllabus of the +2 level of the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The exam will be conducted in two sections namely Preliminary or Screening and mains.

The preliminary exam is consisting of a total of 200 questions 50 questions each for Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology. The total duration of the exam is 3hours.

The main exam is consists of a total of 100 questions 25 questions for each of Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology. The exam duration will be 3 hours.

The correct answer is given 2 marks while for every wrong answer one mark will be deducted.

FAQs:
Ques 1. What is the minimum eligibility for admission to MBBS?
Ans. Qualified Science/Pre-Medical Course/12 years of 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST applicants) in Chemistry, English, Physics, and Biology took together. Applicants appearing in the qualifying exam can also apply. Should have completed 17 years but not exceed 25 years as on 31st December of the year of admission.
Foreign citizens are not allowed to appear in the entrance examination for MBBS Course. They may seek admission through individual Ministries of Govt. of India, New Delhi, according to the rules set for the purpose.
Ques 2. What are the courses given in the Institute of Medical Sciences of BHU?
Ans. The courses offered by Faculty of Medicine cover MBBS (59 students), DM/MCh (22 students in 11 subjects), MD/MS (87 students in 22 subjects), MSc in Health Statistics (10 students) and Ph.D. in all the subjects. The Faculty of Ayurveda imparts courses of MD/MSAy(25 students) , BAMS (50 students),. and Ph.D. in all Ayurvedic subjects. The Faculty of Dental Sciences offers MDS in Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry (one student each).
Ques 3. What is the distribution of medical seats?
Ans. M.B.B.S.(84 seats) : General - 42; SC – 13, OBC – 23 and ST – 6; BDS (38 seats): General – 19; OBC – 10; SC – 6 and ST – 3; BAMS (78 seats) : General – 36; Foreign National – 3; OBC – 21; SC – 12 and ST – 6; B.Pharm. (33 seats): General – 17; OBC – 9; SC – 5 and ST – 2. 3percent seats are reserved for Physically Challenged (PC) candidates in all the categories of the above courses.
Ques 4. Does BHU conduct their own BHU PMT?
Ans. Since last year NEET is certified as an only authorized entrance exam for allowing applicants to any of the medical institutions in India.
Ques 5. What is the fee structure of paid MBBS seats at IMS BHU?
Ans. IMS BHU is a govt college. No paid seat is available here. Though there are 4 seats for NRI quota.
To get accepted in IMS BHU you require to clear NEET-UG. The merit of IMS is formed based on rank in NEET.
There are 84 seats in IMS. 15% of which are fulfilled by All India quota and rest 85% by Deemed universities counseling.
Ques 6. What are the cut off marks of BHU Banaras of the general category for MBBS?
Ans. To get a seat via all India 15% quota in BHU your rank should be under 500.
Ques 7. What are the criteria for MBBS selection in IMS BHU?
Ans. You have to qualify the NEET exam with at least 2000 rank in the general category.
