Overview
International Junior Science Olympiad, also known as IJSO, is a competition for students from secondary classes to test their knowledge in Science subject. IJSO promotes their students from national level to International level by recognizing their merits. The olympiad not only tests the proficiency and competence of students in science subject but also exposes them to critical thinking, problem solving and experimentation. The test also helps young students to interact with other students from across the world and their culture.
International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) Conducting Body:
Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the hosting nation conducts the International Junior Science Olympiad for candidates selected from each participating country. The examination is conducted in Offline mode.T he International Junior Science Olympiad is conducted once in a year.
International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) Teams:
National teams of different countries participate in the test. A standard team of each nation must be of 3 leaders and 6 students for the event. A team of 1 leader and 3 students can be allowed to participate in case standard team can't be constituted but in no case members less than 3 are allowed for the test. Individual participants are not allowed. Following are the stages to qualify for the national team:

International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) Selection Procedure: The examination for IJSO is conducted in the following stages:

International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) Exam Pattern:
The examination is conducted in Offline (pen paper based) mode. The time duration varies as per the test and is usually 03 to 04 hours. The questions are Objective type and the exam is conducted in the English language. There is also an option for each nation to choose its own language. The detailed exam pattern is as follows:-

Plus 01 mark is awarded for each correct answer and 0.25 mark gets deducted for each wrong answer.

The tests are conducted on different days having at least a 01-day gap.
International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) Eligibility:
- Age Criteria:

The age of the candidates must be 15 years or below.
- Educational Criteria:

Candidates appearing for the test are not allowed to use their own set of formulae from chemistry, mathematics, physics for the competition.
- Other Criteria:

Candidates must possess a valid passport of the country he/she belongs to or must be part of the education system of his/her country for a minimum of one year (academic).

Applicant must be residing & studying in India at least for 02 years or earlier before applying OR must be studying in an Indian school at least for 02 years or earlier before applying.

Ques 1. What is the purpose of IJSO?
Ans. The purpose of the test is to promote the science subject on a globally level among school students of 15 years age & less and to also expose them to critical thinking, problem-solving and experimentation through their knowledge.
Ques 2. How can a candidate apply for the IJSO?
Ans. To qualify for International level tests, Candidates must qualify the national level test and get selected for the National team. The registration for the test can be done through the official website.
Ques 3. Is registration mandatory to apply for the test?
Ans. Registration is mandatory to appear in the test and the same must be done within the specified time frame.

Ans. Candidates are advised to visit the website regarding the same.

Ans. The results are released at the closing ceremony of the event. All the participating teams get 'Certification of Participation' and winning teams get Medals (Gold, Silver & Bronze).
